We present novel advanced optical designs with a dramatically smaller display to eye distance, excellent image quality and large field of view (FOV). This enables headsets be much more compact, typically occupying about fourth the volume conventional headset same FOV. The design strategy these optics is based on multichannel approach, which reduces distance from size itself. Unlike microlens arrays, are also devices, our use freeform surfaces produce imaging in entire view, even when...

Abstract The need to characterise photovoltaic modules in the general field of ensuring technical quality rural electrification (PVRE) has often been pointed out. ongoing national PVRE initiatives announced world‐wide, together with fact that PV an actual power smaller than nominal value can still be found on market, make it advisable apply systematic control supplied procedures. This paper argues is possible carry out such case crystalline silicon modules, by means experiments performed...

Sustainable spaces are those that optimized, accessible, promote user experience and aim to reduce CO2 emissions while enhancing users’ well-being comfort. The purpose of this paper is present a methodology was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic understand improve use coliving based on remote Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) analysis digital trail generated by users. Applying POE data collection from IT infrastructure enabled identify opportunities future design human-centered spaces....

In present commercial Virtual Reality (VR) headsets the resolution perceived is still limited, since VR pixel density (typically 10-15 pixels/deg) well below what human eye can resolve (60 pixels/deg). We here novel advanced optical design approaches that dramatically increase of keeping large FoV required in applications. This approach be applied to a vast number architectures, including some configurations, as multichannel designs. All this done at stage, and no tracker needed headset.

Predictions about electric energy needs, based on current models, forecast that the global consumption Earth for 2050 will double present rates. Using distributed procedures control and integration, expected needs can be halved. Therefore implementation of Smart Grids is necessary. Interaction between final consumers utilities a key factor future Grids. This interaction aimed to reach efficient responsible consumption. Energy Residential Gateways (ERG) are new in-building devices govern...

Residential gateways are systems based on different control technologies that provide a unified way of communication for various devices and appliances present in homes buildings (sensors, systems, electronic devices, etc.). The massive introduction residential the market is often hindered by lack intuitive configuration visualization interfaces. Moreover, users frequently obtain very limited feedback about status building after actions carried out gateway, what reduces confidence such...

A characterization procedure for crystalline silicon PV modules has been developed, which can be used quality control purposes by local laboratories of countries where rural electrification actions are being implemented. The method is simple both in the measurement and processing phases. It relies on performance outdoor measurements using basic equipment reference as sensors operation conditions. Results referenced to standard test conditions have uncertainty smaller than /spl plusmn/5% a...
