Patients with severe coronavirus disease (COVID-19) may have COVID-19-associated invasive mold infection (CAIMI) develop. We report 16 cases of CAIMI among 146 nonimmunocompromised patients COVID-19 at an academic hospital in Santiago, Chile. These rates correspond to a incidence 11%; the mortality rate for these was 31.2%.
Background and Objectives: Up to 27% of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction cases result in a residual positive pivot shift sign, indicating anteroposterior rotational instability. This instability can compromise returning sports increase the risk further injuries. The biomechanical role anterolateral (ALL) controlling internal knee rotation is well known. However, there are no clinical trials comparing isolated ACL repairs those combined with ALL reconstruction. Our objective...
Background This study considers recent trends in combustible and e-cigarette use among US young adults who smoked cigarettes adolescence, are the originating source of most smoke. Methods Data come from Monitoring Future study, which includes aged 19–30 were first surveyed 12th grade as part a nationally-representative sample. The analysis centres on 3623 observations 2377 2017 to 2022 reported they had ever cigarette initial, survey. Results Among percentage used currently (in past 30 days)...
Identifying additional genetic alterations associated with poor prognosis in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is still a challenge. Aims: To characterize the presence of DNA copy number (CNAs) children and adults ALL by whole-genome oligonucleotide array (aCGH) analysis, to identify their associations clinical features outcome. Array-CGH was carried out 265 newly diagnosed ALLs (142 123 adults). The NimbleGen CGH 12x135K (Roche) used analyze gains losses. CNAs were analyzed GISTIC aCGHweb...
In B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (B-ALL), the identification of additional genetic alterations associated with poor prognosis is still importance. We determined frequency and prognostic impact somatic mutations in children adult cases B-ALL treated Spanish PETHEMA SEHOP protocols.Mutational status hotspot regions TP53, JAK2, PAX5, LEF1, CRLF2 IL7R genes was by next-generation deep sequencing 340 patients (211 129 adults). The associations between mutation clinicopathological...
To explore novel genetic abnormalities occurring in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) through an integrative study combining array-based comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) and next-generation sequencing (NGS) a series of MDS MDS/myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) patients. 301 patients diagnosed with (n = 240) or MDS/MPN 61) were studied at the time diagnosis. A genome-wide analysis DNA copy number was performed. In addition, mutational DNMT3A, TET2, RUNX1, TP53 BCOR genes performed by...
Abstract Background The archeology and history of the ancient Mediterranean have shown that this sea has been a permeable obstacle to human migration. Multiple cultural exchanges around taken place with presumably population admixtures. A gravitational territory those migrations Iberian Peninsula. Here we present comprehensive analysis maternal gene pool, by means control region sequencing PCR-RFLP typing, autochthonous Andalusians originating from coastal provinces Huelva Granada, located...
Determining the timing, identity and direction of migrations in Mediterranean Basin, role "migratory routes" among regions Africa, Europe Asia, effects sex-specific behaviors population movements have important implications for our understanding present human genetic diversity. A crucial component world is its westernmost region. Clear features transcontinental ancient contacts between North African Iberian populations surrounding maritime region Gibraltar Strait been identified from...
The structure of haplogroup H reveals significant differences between the western and eastern edges Mediterranean, as well northern southern regions. Human populations along westernmost Mediterranean coasts, which were settled by individuals from two continents separated a relatively narrow body water, show highest frequencies mitochondrial H. These characteristics permit analysis ancient migrations both shores, may have occurred via primitive sea crafts early seafaring. We collected sample...
Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are hematological disorders at high risk of progression to secondary acute myeloid leukemia (sAML). However, the mutational dynamics and clonal evolution underlying disease poorly understood present. To elucidate pathways genes occurring during sAML, next generation sequencing was performed on 84 serially paired samples MDS patients who developed sAML (discovery cohort) 14 from did not progress follow-up (control cohort). Results were validated in an...
