Abstract The SOLARIS synchrotron located in Krakow, Poland, is a third-generation light source operating at medium electron energy. first was observed 2015, and the consequent development of infrastructure lead to users’ experiments soft X-ray energies 2018. Presently, expands its operation towards hard X-rays with continuous developments beamlines concurrent infrastructure. In following, we will summarize design, describe research together main performance parameters, upgrade, plans.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) jointly with the Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste (EST) operates a multipurpose X-ray spectrometry endstation at Fluorescence beamline (10.1L). facility has been available to external users since beginning of 2015 through peer-review process EST. Using this collaboration framework, IAEA supports and promotes synchrotron-radiation-based research training activities for various groups from Member States, especially those who have limited previous...

Conventional X-ray fluorescence imaging technique uses a focused beam to scan through the sample and an detector with high energy resolution but no spatial resolution. The of image is then determined by size exciting beam, which can be obtained either from synchrotron source or tube micro-capillary lens. Such based on pixel-by-pixel measurement very slow not suitable for large area samples. goal this work develop system capable simultaneous samples using wide field uniform excitation...

Abstract Glioblastoma (GBM) is a fast-growing and aggressive brain tumor which invades the nearby tissue but generally does not spread to distant organs. Nonetheless, if untreated, GBM can result in patient death time even less than few months from diagnosis. The influence of progress on organs other obvious still well described. Therefore, we examined elemental abnormalities appearing selected body (kidney, heart, spleen, lung) two rat models GBM. animals used for study were subjected...

Abstract Stratified materials are of great importance for many branches modern industry, e.g. electronics or optics and biomedical applications. Examination chemical composition individual layers determination their thickness helps to get information on properties function. A confocal 3D micro X‐ray fluorescence (3D µXRF) spectroscopy is an analytical method giving the possibility investigate distribution elements in a sample with spatial resolution micrometer regime non‐destructive way....

The aim of the study was analysis Cr distribution in shoots macrophyte Callitriche cophocarpa by means two X-ray-based techniques: micro X-ray fluorescence (μXRF) and electron probe microanalysis (EPXMA). Plants were treated with 100 μM (5.2 mg l(-1)) chromium solutions for 7 days. introduced independently at speciations as Cr(III) Cr(VI), known their diverse physicochemical properties different influence on living organisms. A comparative Cr(III)-treated plants EPXMA μXRF demonstrated high...

X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) is a commonly used technique for non-destructive elemental analysis of cultural heritage objects. It can be applied to investigations provenance historical objects as well studies art techniques. While the XRF easily performed locally using standard available equipment there growing interest in imaging spatial distribution specific elements. Spatial distrbutions usually realised by scanning an object with narrow focused excitation beam and measuring...

Agate nodules from Kerrouchen (Khénifra Province, Meknés-Tafilalet Region) in Morocco occur Triassic basalts and reach up to 30 cm diameter. Monocentric, banded agates—mainly pastel pink, grey, white yellow—with infiltration canals (osculum) are observed. Raman microspectroscopy revealed that the agates mainly consist of low quartz subordinately moganite with distinctive 460 501 cm−1 marker bands, respectively. Linear mapping indicated concentrates grey zones monocentric agate nodules. The...
