Walking as regular physical activity (PA) is central to healthy aging, and environments influence walking. Multilevel neighborhood-based studies that only report average (fixed-effect) walking differences for gender age implicitly assume neighborhood the behavior of men women, younger older persons, similarly. This study tests this assumption by examining whether in transport (WfT) recreation (WfR) are similar or different across neighborhoods.

Residents of more socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhoods are likely to report poorer physical function, although the reasons for this remain unknown. It is possible that neighborhood-level perceptions safety from crime contribute relationship through its association with walking recreation.Data were obtained fourth wave (collected in 2013) HABITAT (How Areas Brisbane Influence HealTh and AcTivity) multilevel longitudinal study middle- older-aged adults (46-74 y) residing 200 Brisbane,...

A model for predicting rain attenuation on earth-to-space was developed by using the measurement data obtained from tropical and equatorial region. The proposed uses complete rainfall rate cumulative distribution as input data. It shown that significant improvements in terms of prediction error over existing obtained.

Within a city, gender differences in walking for recreation (WfR) vary significantly across neighbourhoods, although the reasons remain unknown. This cross-sectional study investigated contribution of social environment (SE) to explaining such variation, using 2009 data from How Areas Brisbane Influence healTh and AcTivity (HABITAT) study, including 7866 residents aged 42-67 years within 200 neighbourhoods Brisbane, Australia (72.6% response rate). The analytical sample comprised 6643...

Background/Aim: Neighbourhood built environments provide opportunities to incorporate walking for transport (WfT) into daily activities, contributing overall physical activity. Within the same city, relationship between age and WfT can vary significantly across neighbourhoods; however, little is known about reasons this variation. This cross-sectional study investigates whether neighbourhood environment contributes between-neighbourhood variation in age-WfT relationship. Methods:...
