Background— Eisenmenger syndrome differs significantly from other types of pulmonary arterial hypertension in its physiology and prognosis. We sought to assess the relationship between echocardiographic characteristics patients with mortality. Methods Results— Clinical variables were assessed 181 consecutive syndrome, excluding those complex congenital heart disease. Patients' mean age was 39.1±12.8 years, 59 (32.6%) male, 122 (67.4%) functional class III or higher, 74 (40.9%) on advanced...

Several clinical risk factors for death and heart transplantation have been identified in patients with Fontan circulation. It is unknown whether cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) measurements of ventricular size function are independently associated these outcomes further improve stratification.Data on circulation who had a CMR study from January 2002 to 2011 were retrospectively reviewed. The end point was time or listing after the study. median age 215 18.3 years (25th, 75th percentiles:...

To assess the spatial and temporal performance of fetal myocardial speckle tracking, using high-frame-rate (HFR) storing Lagrangian strain analysis.Dummy electrocardiographic signaling permitted DICOM HFR in 124 normal fetuses paired low-frame-rate (LFR) video at 25 Hz 93 them. Vector velocity imaging (VVI) tracking co-ordinates were used to compare time domain measures. We compared success, strain, peak diastolic positive rate values vs. LFR storing. Further comparisons within an subset...

Lethal cardiac complications leading to death and various arrhythmias have been reported after organophosphate and/or carbamate poisonings. The present study focuses on the long-term effects of repeated low-level exposure diazinon, propoxur, chlorpyrifos (CPF) function in rabbits. yearly based experimental scheme consisted two oral administration periods, lasting 3 months 1 month each, interrupted by an 8-month washout period (total duration 12 months). At end scheme, rabbits underwent...

<b><i>Objectives:</i></b> To compare myocardial deformation patterns in fetuses with congenital heart disease (CHD) our reference range using speckle tracking echocardiography. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> We prospectively stored and analyzed 4-chamber loops of 28 CHD (median gestation 27 weeks, 20.9–37.0). The peak longitudinal left (LVs) right (RVs) ventricular free wall Lagrangian strain LV/RV ratio were measured from Syngo VVI software- (Siemens)...

Background— Despite its robust diagnostic capabilities in adolescents and adult patients after the arterial switch operation, little information is available on cardiovascular magnetic resonance findings this population. Methods Results— The of 220 consecutive evaluated our center were retrospectively reviewed (median age at resonance, 15.4 years; 66.8% male sex). Compared with published normal values, left right ventricular end-diastolic volume z scores mildly enlarged (0.48±1.76 0.33±1.5;...

<b><i>Aim:</i></b> To evaluate the feasibility of offline anatomic M-mode (AMM) to study fetal atrioventricular annulus long-axis displacement (LAD) and compare its performance against real-time conventional (MM). <b><i>Material Methods:</i></b> Paired AMM MM LAD studies were recorded prospectively in 54 fetuses, was compared. Insonation angles less than 30° all but 4 cases. The overall tested a composite total sample 91 normal singleton...

Background. Our knowledge regarding the epidemiology of pediatric cardiomyopathy is based on large national population studies reporting an annual incidence 1 case per 100 000 children with a higher observed in infancy and among selected populations. The aim to document Mediterranean population. Methods. Children younger than 18 years age, living island Crete, Greece evaluated during 20 since establishment tertiary cardiology services (2002-2022) were included this retrospective study....

To evaluate the performance of primary healthcare physicians in paediatric cardiac auscultation and impact a multimedia-based teaching intervention.A total 106 (77 paediatricians, 14 general practitioners 15 medical graduates) attended four courses based on virtual patients' presentation (digital phonocardiography). Their auscultatory was documented at beginning each course end two courses.Participants initially detected 73% abnormal murmurs 17% additional sounds, while 22% innocent were...

This paper describes a system for discriminating innocent from pathologic systolic heart murmurs in children based on auscultation recordings. For sound signal analysis the use of reassigned spectrogram is suggested. Both dimensions and noise time-frequency representation were significantly reduced using higher order singular value decomposition. Optimal selected through cross-validation experiments database recordings with University Hospital Heraklion. The only consisted high...

Abstract Aim: To evaluate the performance of experienced cardiologists by use digital phonocardiography for correct identification heart disease and innocent murmurs in children. Methods: Two independent paediatric blindly evaluated 83 phonocardiograms obtained from consecutive cardiology outpatients. Each observer had to document presence characteristics (intensity, quality, location), additional abnormal auscultatory findings (systolic click, second tone abnormalities) whether he would...

The effect of clarithromycin on the QT interval was studied in a group 28 children treated for respiratory tract infections. QTc measured before and following 24 h treatment. A modest (average 22 ms, 95% CI 14-30 ms) but significant prolongation (p<0.001) observed, with seven cases having >440 ms during treatment (including single case >460 ms).Serial measurements are necessary early detection at risk drug-induced arrhythmias.

Abstract We describe a new family with Adams–Oliver syndrome (AOS). The propositus is 14‐month‐old boy presenting aplasia cutis congenita, distal limb transverse defects, growth retardation, and wide atrial septal defect. Central nervous system abnormalities included central hypotonia, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings consistent periventricular leukomalacia (PVL). Fetal MRI at 26 weeks' gestation had shown bilateral dilatation of lateral ventricles cysts the site postnatal lesions....
