The composition of carotenoids and phenolic compounds from jambolão fruits (Syzygium cumini) was determined by HPLC-DAD-MS/MS. Two main were found in the fruits, all-trans-lutein (43.7%) all-trans-β-carotene (25.4%). anthocyanin characterised presence 3,5-diglucosides five out six aglycones commonly foods. This pattern also observed for other flavonoids, since diglucosides dihydromyricetin, methyl-dihydromyricetin dimethyl-dihydromyricetin, along with myricetin glucoside a galloyl-glucose...

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6n-3) is an essential long chain polyunsaturated fatty associated with the development of nervous system that has to be consumed by infants through breast milk or complementary food sources and which consumption also usually inadequate in preschoolers. In this work, vitro bioaccessibility DHA from two commercial infant formulas (8.9 9.1%) preschool children milks (6.9 7.2%), similar contents but formulated different ingredients, was not improved presence egg...

Chrysobalanus icaco L. is an underexplored plant found in tropical areas around the globe. Currently, there no apparent information regarding effects C. fruits may exert vivo or potential role health promotion. This study aimed at providing evidence influence of this fruit on antigenotoxicity, antimutagenicity, and oxidative stress rats. Male Wistar rats were treated with 100, 200, 400 mg/kg body weight (bw)/d for 14 d. Doxorubicin (DXR, 15 bw, ip) was used DNA damaging as oxidant to...

Tropical fruit juices produced from native fruits have been widely marketed by small agribusinesses in the Brazilian semiarid region, necessitating a deeper understanding of impact preservation methods on quality parameters. This study aimed to prepare myrtle (Eugenia gracillima Kiaersk.) tropical juice and investigate effects physical (90 °C for 60 s) chemical (INS 202 INS 211) methods. formulations were evaluated after preparation every 15 days during storage high-density polyethylene...
