Mycterothrips doostii sp. n. and zagrosi are described illustrated from Fars province, southern Iran, on the basis of specimens collected green leaves Juglans regia Amygdalus scoparia respectively. M. is closely related to aureus weii, whereas resembles sanubari glycines in color structure.
The genus Mycterothrips, with 36 species worldwide, is primarily Holarctic, but several occurring in the Old World tropics including Australia and Africa (ThripsWiki 2019). apparently all feed breed on leaves, although adults can disperse widely onto many plants. An identification key to 27 was provided (Masumoto Okajima 2006), seven further were subsequently described from Iran (Mirab-balou et al. 2011; Alavi 2013; Minaei 2017) a for distinguishing nine this country presented by (2013)....
The effect of the entomopathogenic fungus, Beauveria bassiana, on biological characteristics Aphidius colemani, a parasitoid green peach aphid, Myzus persicae, was studied under laboratory conditions. Third-instar nymphs aphid were infected with 5/3×105 conidia/mL B. which determined to be lethal concentration 50 dose. They then offered mated female parasitoids for 24 h at different intervals. Results showed...
A list of grass-dependent Thysanoptera genera in Iran is provided, including Arorathrips with one species, A. mexicanus, a Chirothrips-related thripid genus as new record for Iranian fauna. The specimens this species were collected from mixed grasses the city Minab located Hormozgan Province, south Iran. importance host plants members family Thripidae briefly discussed.
The sublethal effects of lufenuron and + fenoxycarb were tested on the adult stage parasitoid wasp Habrobracon hebetor under laboratory conditions. Bioassay tests carried out in incubator at a temperature 26 ± 1 °C, relative humidity 65 10% photoperiod 16:8 (L:D). Exposure cages used for experiments. Tests conducted three replications. Young female wasps exposed to residues pesticides’ concentrations (LC25) after 1, 24, 48 72 h, then their mortalities recorded. Results showed that both...
The remarkable diversity in male and female genital morphology among the species of Sitona Germar might contribute to understanding structural “lock-and-key” isolating mechanism. Recently, it has been found that spite phallic sizes weevils genus Sitona, their internal sacs should precisely match with vaginal infoldings conspecific females. present research also deals transfer apparatus, which is a special organ for insemination procedure inside bursa copulatrix. A wedge-shaped structure...
Dynamics of a cooperative lock-and-key model in genital matching Sitona Germar (Coleoptera: Curculionidae)
The genus Limothrips Haliday comprises species that live on various grasses, family Poaceae. consimilis Priesner is reported for the first time from Iran basis of several females collected Avena sativa and Bromus sp. (Poaceae). An illustrated key provided 6 recorded so far in (L. angulicornis Jablonowski, L. cerealium Haliday, Priesner, denticornis schmutzi transcaucasicus Savenko). pest status grass-living thripid compared to Phlaeothrirpidae.
The cutting edge of the lock-and-key hypothesis in weevils: a case study Sitona fairmairei (Coleoptera, Curculionidae)
Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae), is one of the most important pest vegetable and fruit crops. This polyphagous has a range natural enemies including parasitoid Eretmocerus mundus (Merect) (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae). To determine molecular profile taxonomic status Iranian isolates E. mundus, parasitized B. samples were collected from cotton crops in Maharlu region (Shiraz, Fars province). DNA was extracted subjected to polymerase chain reaction using pair mitochondrial...
