The Iranian species of the tribe Hyperaspidini Mulsant, 1846 (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) are reviewed. current list includes 12 species, all placed in a single genus Hyperaspis Chevrolat, 1836. Hyperapsis asiatica Lewis, 1896 and H. pumila 1850 excluded from Coccinellidae. Diagnoses given. Images adult beetles diagnostic characters male genitalia distributed Iran shown. A key to identification is presented. Distribution records provided for each along with information on host plants prey...
A new species of the genus Empidideicus, E. jirofti Gharali, Mogbeli Fekrat sp. nov., is described from south Iran, and diagnostic morphological genitalic features are photographed. This distinguished by completely dark brown occiput with yellow spot, scutellum, mesonotum two admedian vittae. key to Iranian provided.
Neoheegeria astragali sp.n. is described as the first known member of this genus to exhibit wing-dimorphism. Collected on Astragalus sp. [Fabaceae] in Iran, it also unique among species having tube unusually short. sinaitica recorded from Iran for time, and an illustrated key provided five Neoheegeria. Wing reduction Haplothripini discussed briefly, concluded that most are associated with Astragalus.
Mycterothrips doostii sp. n. and zagrosi are described illustrated from Fars province, southern Iran, on the basis of specimens collected green leaves Juglans regia Amygdalus scoparia respectively. M. is closely related to aureus weii, whereas resembles sanubari glycines in color structure.
Abstract The harlequin ladybird, Harmonia axyridis (Pallas, 1773), is native to Asia but has been introduced many countries, both intentionally and unintentionally. In the Middle East region, H. was so far only known from Iran Turkey. This study reports for first time a country with hot desert climate, Saudi Arabia. single specimen that found most likely result of unintentional release. Successful spreading in Arabia will be limited because high temperatures during summer scarcity prey...
A new species Phthiria notiosa Gharali, Mogbeli & Fekrat sp. nov. is described from the southern Iran and its diagnostic features are photographed. The belongs to group of having dorsal prong first flagellomere short. morphologically similar Ph. vagans but it easily distinguished that widely distributed in by completely black scutellum different genitalic features.
Climate change is a crucial element propelling shifts in pest dispersals. Accurate evaluation of potential distributions for determining their establishment risks can lead to development more efficacious management strategies. The leopard moth, Zeuzera pyrina (L.) (Lepidoptera: Cossidae), devastating with increasing significance particularly due frequency and severity drought episodes the context global warming. In light invasiveness economic importance this pest, it would be imperative...
Tephritid fruit flies are ranked as one of the most damaging groups insect pests. Morphological identification is mainly performed on adults due to lack adequate keys for immature stages. The peach fly, Bactrocera zonata (Saunders), infests some principal commercial fruits and vegetables. It is, therefore important avert its global dispersal, particularly by accurately identifying this species at ports entry. In study, a TaqMan real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was developed accurate...
Rapid and accurate identification of potentially invasive taxa that may cause high economic losses or environmental damage is critical importance. The onion thrips, Thrips tabaci Lindeman, ranks as one the world's most destructive agricultural pests commonly found in imported products field samples, but prone to undetected transport because its minute size well cryptic behavior. Although traditional taxonomic methods are pretty useful straightforward assignment specimens genus , species...
Although checklists of the Iranian ladybird beetles (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) have been made twice in recent years, they a number shortcomings. Moreover, since these checklist were published, several species added to fauna and previously reported excluded. We therefore compiled an updated Coccinellidae found Iran its individual provinces based on available literature unpublished records. The data allowed addition one species, Hyperaspis guttulata Fairmaire, 1870, fauna. On other hand, some...
Development and reproduction of the cotton whitefly, Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) were studied on aubergine, tomato potato under laboratory conditions (30 degrees C 55% RH). Total life cycle from egg to adult was 14.9, 20.0 14.2 days potato, respectively. Immature mortality 12.9, 18.1 12.3% at same three host plants. Females B. oviposited means 51.8, 60.1 67.5 eggs respectively had a mean longevity 8, 14 12.9 The net reproductive rate 18.12, 15.06 27.63 daily intrinsic increase 0.141, 0.092 0.165
An updated checklist of the Coccinellidae species former subfamily Sticholotidinae recorded from Iran is provided. Eleven are reported: two classified presently in Microweiseinae (in genera Paracoelopterus Normand, 1936 and Serangium Blackburn, 1889), nine tribe Sticholotidini Coccinellinae Coelopterus Mulsant & Rey, 1852 Pharoscymnus Bedel, 1906). smirnovi Dobzhansky, 1927 removed list Iran. Distribution Iranian provinces presented. Data concerning their host plants along with prey also...
