Abstract A large‐scale phylogenetic study is presented for C ucujoidea ( oleoptera), a diverse superfamily of beetles that historically has been taxonomically difficult. This the most comprehensive analysis cucujoid taxa to date, with DNA sequence data sampled from eight genes (four nuclear, four mitochondrial) 384 coleopteran taxa, including exemplars 35 (of 37) families and 289 genera ucujoidea. Maximum‐likelihood analyses these present many significant relationships, some proposed...

Hyperapsis asiatica Lewis, 1896 and H. pumila 1850 excluded from Coccinellidae. Diagnoses given. Images adult beetles diagnostic characters male genitalia distributed Iran shown. The tribe Coccinellini is a group of relatively large ladybird beetles that exhibits remarkable morphological and biological diversity. Many species are aphidophagous, feeding as larvae adults on aphids, but some also feed other hemipterous insects (i.e., heteropterans, psyllids, whiteflies), beetle moth larvae, pollen, fungal spores, even plant tissue. Several control agents or widespread invasive (e.g., Harmonia axyridis (Pallas)). Despite the ecological importance this tribe, little known...

Abstract The harlequin ladybird, Harmonia axyridis (Pallas, 1773), is native to Asia but has been introduced many countries, both intentionally and unintentionally. In the Middle East region, H. was so far only known from Iran Turkey. This study reports for first time a country with hot desert climate, Saudi Arabia. single specimen that found most likely result of unintentional release. Successful spreading in Arabia will be limited because high temperatures during summer scarcity prey...

A worldwide checklist is provided for the family Endomychidae (Coleoptera: Cucujoidea). An updated subfamilial classification presented, based on recent higher-level phylogenetic analyses and incorporating many recently described taxa. At present, contains 1782 valid species subspecies in 130 genera organized into 12 subfamilies. Endomychidae or Handsome Fungus Beetles are a moderately large family of mycophagous beetles distributed worldwide but with the highest diversity in tropics (Shockley et al. 2009a, b). The concept (e.g. Lawrence & Newton 1995; Tomaszewska 2000, 2010; Shockley 2009a) has recently been restricted by an elevation former subfamilies Eupsilobiinae, Mycetaeinae and Anamorphinae to level independent families newly recognized superfamily Coccinelloidea (Robertson 2015).
