Atonal homolog 1 (Atoh1) is a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor that essential for the genesis, survival, and maturation of variety neuronal non-neuronal cell populations, including those involved in proprioception, interoception, balance, respiration, hearing.
