In an open prospective study, 26 patients with delusional depression (mood-congruent psychotic features: DSM-IV 296.4) were treated over 5 weeks a combination of SSRI (citalopram, n = 22, or paroxetine, 4) and the neuroleptic olanzapine. There are very divergent appraisals of the effect antidepressants on thyroid parameters and their possible correlation with response. Whereas there numerous investigations tricyclic antidepressants, so far, only limited data serotonin-selective reuptake inhibitors neuroendocrine parameters. 70 patients were examined in a prospective study to clarify causes of polyneuropathies becoming manifest beyond the age 60. 29 (41.4%) had mixed symmetrical sensorimotor polyneuropathy and 21 (30%) sensory polyneuropathy.
