Background
For patients with psychiatric illnesses remaining refractory to 'standard' therapies, neurosurgical procedures may be considered. Guidelines for safe and ethical conduct of such have previously independently been proposed by various local regional expert groups.
Methods
To expand on these earlier documents, representative members continental international societies, joined efforts further elaborate adopt a pragmatic worldwide set guidelines. These are intended...

Subthalamic nucleus stimulation is emerging as an effective surgical therapy for Parkinson's disease. It considered to be a safe procedure with little morbidity, the most common complications being intracranial haemorrhage and hardware failure. We report on three cases of depression, one whom attempted suicide after bilateral subthalamic stimulation.

Introduction: To evaluate the current utilization and challenges in fully implementing use of deep brain stimulation (DBS) treatment Asia Oceania. Methods: We conducted a medical literature search to identify DBS research performed by investigators with primary affiliation Asian Oceania countries between March 1, 2013, 2019, followed an international survey-based study. Additionally, we obtained added information regarding opportunities from technology/industry perspective within China...

Subthalamic nucleus (STN) stimulation is an established surgical treatment for Parkinson's disease (PD). Though the motor benefits of STN are well understood, its cognitive and behavioral effects still not fully understood. Manic psychosis, hypersexuality, pathological gambling mood swings associated with advanced PD. There have been reports to suggest improvement or worsening in these symptoms following deep brain (DBS). We report two cases as sole side-effects despite good clinical on...

The pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN) is a potential target for gait disorders. We report 4 cases of bilateral PPN stimulation in progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) patients with short-term (6 months) and long-term (18 follow-ups. Patients PSP who had disturbances, but were able to walk or without assistance, selected. patients' median age was 64 years the disease duration 3 years. Bilateral deep brain (DBS) performed. pacemaker programmed using bipolar mode lower frequencies (20-45 Hz)....

✓ Between January and April, 1990, three consecutive cases of syringomyelia were treated by percutaneous placement thecoperitoneal shunts. Two these patients had undergone craniovertebral decompression earlier at other centers the third was primarily a shunt. In each case, syrinx associated with Chiari I malformation, although clinical presentation due to myelopathy. All obtained unequivocal benefit from this simple procedure. Postoperative magnetic resonance images showed considerable...

Background Parkinson disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by motor dysfunctions and nonmotor symptoms. Current treatments do not alter progression, highlighting the need for alternative therapies. Music, dance, mindfulness meditation have shown potential to improve symptoms quality of life in patients with PD. Objective This study aims evaluate effectiveness dance or music on PD cognitive functions, mood, behavior, caregiver burden. Methods single-blinded,...

A 74 year old male presented with 1 month history of weakness in right upper limb and motor aphasia for 15 days. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) the brain showed three discrete ring enhancing lesions. An image guided awake craniotomy biopsy a lesion was performed.
