Abstract Phylogenetic studies of Carex L. (Cyperaceae) have consistently demonstrated that most subgenera and sections are para‐ or polyphyletic. Yet, taxonomists continue to use in classification. Why? The Global Group (GCG) here takes the position historical continued serves (i) organize our understanding lineages , (ii) create an identification mechanism break ~2000 species into manageable groups stimulate its study, (iii) provide a framework recognize morphologically diagnosable within ....

The taxonomy of the genus Kobresia is difficult and based on morphological characters. Achene micromorphology was studied with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), its taxonomic significance evaluated. A total 39 species subspecies were included. shape epidermal cells achenes usually polygonal or rectangular. anticlinal walls are mostly straight, rarely sinuous. Generally, a silica platform formed inner periclinal wall achene cell, 1–3 bodies protrude from middle platform. Sometimes,...

Carex nodosa (Cyperaceae), a new species from Chongqing and Sichuan, southwest China, is described illustrated. The resembles C. hebecarpa A. Mey., but differs in having sheath‐like bracts, 4.0–7.5 cm long male spikes, oblanceolate 7.1–8.6 mm scales, perigynia that are glabrous except for ciliate beaks.

This paper presents a taxonomic account of the Cyperus species which used to be placed in segregate genus Pycreus (hereafter: species) within Pan-Himalaya, based on morphological and micromorphological studies. Twelve have been identified Pan-Himalaya region. Taxonomic keys, descriptions, type information, ecology, distribution notes are provided for each species. The significance nutlet micromorphology is discussed, supported by high-quality digital images scanning electron microscope (SEM)...

This paper reports on the presence of one generic and six specific new records Cyperaceous species for flora Nepal. Amongst discoveries are genus Machaerina, alongside species: Eleocharisochrostachys, Fimbristylisacuminata, F.ferruginea, F.nutans, F.thomsonii Scleriarugosa. The taxonomy distribution Actinoscirpusgrossus, Fimbristylissalbundia Fuirenaumbellata in Nepal clarified through notes nomenclature, description, distribution, specimen examination, identification keys photographs.

(Scirpus ×intermedius Tang & F. T.
