Biodegradable polymers and bioactive fillers are being combined in a variety of composite materials for biomedical application. The atomic and electronic structures of an Al grain boundary with segregated Sr (substitutional) impurity atoms have been calculated by the first-principles pseudopotential method based on local density functional theory. results show that expands charge decreases significantly over whole due to segregation.
