Aim To determine if ‘Defocus Incorporated Multiple Segments’ (DIMS) spectacle lenses slow childhood myopia progression. Methods A 2-year double-masked randomised controlled trial was carried out in 183 Chinese children aged 8–13 years, with between −1.00 and −5.00 D astigmatism ≤1.50 D. Children were randomly assigned to wear DIMS (n=93) or single vision (SV) (n=90). lens incorporated multiple segments myopic defocus of +3.50 Refractive error (cycloplegic autorefraction) axial length...

A direct-conversion ultra-wideband (UWB) transceiver for Mode 1 OFDM applications employs three resonant networks and phase-locked loops. Using a common-gate input stage, the receiver allows direct sharing of antenna with transmitter. Designed in 0.13-/spl mu/m CMOS technology, provides total gain 69-73 dB noise figure 6.5-8.4 across bands, TX 1-dB compression point -10 dBm. The circuit consumes 105 mW from 1.5-V supply.
