Intestinal and systemic illnesses have been linked to increased gut permeability. Bile acids, whose luminal profile can be altered in human disease, modulate intestinal paracellular We investigated the mechanism by which selected bile acids increase permeability using a validated vitro model. Human Caco-2 cells were grown monolayers challenged with panel of acids. Transepithelial electrical resistance luminal-to-basolateral fluxes 10-kDa Cascade blue-conjugated dextran used monitor...

Objective. Most of the recent studies suggest that oats are well tolerated by celiac disease (CD) patients. However, it is still possible different oat cultivars may display biological properties relevant for CD pathogenesis. We aimed to investigate and immunological two varieties, Avena genziana potenza, in relation their safety Material Methods. Phosphorylation extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) trans-epithelial electrical resistance (TEER) were evaluated CaCo-2 cells treated with...

In recent decades, various species of Mediterranean sea urchins, including Paracentrotus lividus, have been subject to widespread seasonal episodes mass mortality whose causative agents are still unclear. particular, P. lividus is late winter events mortality, due a disease manifested by massive loss spines and the presence greenish amorphous material on tests (i.e., urchin skeleton consisting spongeous calcite). Documented show epidemic diffusion might produce economic losses also in...

Horses affected by chronic piroplasmosis may develop poor performance and muscle atrophy. Here we investigate the pathological immunopathological aspects of myopathy occurring in equine piroplasmosis. The study included 16 horses serologically positive for piroplasms presenting with clinical signs supporting serum biochemical evidence a myopathy. Skeletal was evaluated histopathology, immunohistochemistry, indirect immunofluorescence, molecular detection inflammatory cytokines skeletal...

Background Senna laxatives are used worldwide. However, their misuse can lead to chronic mucosal inflammation with the accumulation of pigment-laden leukocytes and may cause colon cells undergo apoptosis. This study explores mechanisms by which rhein, an active component senna, acts on a human intestinal cell line induce ion secretion, apoptosis, indirect chemotaxis polymorphonuclear leukocytes. Methods Human colonic adenocarcinoma (CaCo-2) monolayer cells, in presence or absence were...

Leishmania spp. infection is associated with an inflammatory myopathy (IM) in dogs. The pathomechanism underlying this disorder still elusive, however, the pattern of cellular infiltration and MHC I II upregulation indicate immune-mediated myositis. This study aimed to investigate presence autoantibodies targeting skeletal muscle sera leishmania-infected dogs individuate major autoantigen. We tested from 35 10 negative controls for circulating indirect immunofluorescence. Immunoblot mass...

The levels of anti-Leishmania infantum antibodies are relevant with the diagnosis and followup infected dogs. Both ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) IFAT (Indirect Immuno-Fluorescent Antibody Test) may be employed to estimate antibody in dogs, but at present, correlation between absorbance titer has not been investigated. In this paper, we compared optical densities obtained a commercial ELISA, Leiscan?(Laboratorios Dr. Esteve S.A.), versus titers by house IFAT. We measured of: 44...

Abstract A new enzyme was partially purified from D. melanogaster . The catalyzes the reduction of xanthommatin to dihydroxanthommatin in presence NADH/H + as confactor. FAD, FMN, p‐chloromercuribenzoate, 2‐amino‐4‐hydroxypteridine and biopterin inhibited activity. inhibitory effect some pterines suggests a correlation between synthesis that pterines. It has been suggested may participate, vivo, xanthommatin.

Perineurioma is a rare entity, it benign peripheral nerve sheath tumor entirely composed of perineurial cells. A 62-year-old male patient was admitted to our hospital, suffering from scrotal and pelvic pain combined with severe continuous in his right thigh. transrectal ultrasound revealed periprostatic oval lesion about 5 cm maximum diameter. sovrapubic laparotomy performed complete excision. The morphological immunohistochemical data were most consistent the diagnosis perineurioma.
