The standardisation of terminology lower urinary tract function: Report from the standardistation sub-committee International Continence Society.
This 5-year, prospective, multicenter trial evaluated the long-term safety and efficacy of sacral neuromodulation in patients with refractory urge incontinence, urgency frequency retention.A total 17 centers worldwide enrolled 163 (87% female). Following test stimulation 11 declined implantation 152 underwent using InterStim. Of those treated 96 (63.2%) had 25 (16.4%) 31 (20.4%) retention. Voiding diaries were collected annually for 5 years. Clinical success was defined as 50% or greater...

Intravaginal electrical stimulation (IVS) induces a profound bladder inhibition and is successful in the treatment of incontinence due to detrusor instability. In this experimental study cats, direct recordings efferent activity thin hypogastric pelvic nerve filaments were used analyze neuronal mechanisms underlying inhibition. A longlasting reflex discharge, with latency 35 50 msec., was evoked by IVS. The discharge unaffected imposed changes intravesical pressure or micturition...
Transurethral resection material from a series of 64 patients with classical (ulcer) interstitial cystitis (60 women and 4 men, mean age years), 44 nonulcer (40 39 years) 20 control (mean 49 were studied by light microscopy. Patients disease had mucosal ulceration hemorrhage, granulation tissue, intense inflammatory infiltrate, elevated mast cell counts perineural infiltrates. disease, despite the same severe symptoms, relatively unaltered mucosa sparse response, main feature being multiple,...

Interstitial cystitis is a bothersome condition in urological practice. There continuous discussion on the extent and demarcation of this syndrome. Accumulated evidence indicates that interstitial heterogeneous Today it often divided into classic nonulcer disease. Compared with type appears different terms demographic, endoscopic histological findings as well response to various types treatment. However, clinical series subdivision not always performed, which makes difficult draw...
Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a chronic disabling condition of unknown etiology. One its major characteristics an increase in mast cells (MC) showing signs activation. It has been suggested that the proteinase content defines two MC types: MC(TC), containing chymase and tryptase, MC(T), which contains tryptase but lacks chymase. Here, we investigated distribution expression IC together with tissue growth factors, stem cell factor (SCF) interleukin-6 (IL-6).MC were enumerated bladder...
