SUMMARY After intracisternal injection of glutamic acid and pyridoxal 5‐phosphate, cerebral seizures could be evoked in dogs. With a small dose, these were limited predominantly to the facial area. An interruption or prevention was possible by intracistemal γ‐aininobutyric pretreatment animals with α‐methyl‐α‐ethyl‐succinimide. The correspondence clinical symptoms therapeutic effect suggests relation between experimentally‐induced temporal lobe epilepsy man.
Abstract. The analysis of biological and ecological traits has a long history in evolutionary research. However, trait data are often scattered standardised terminology that transcends taxonomic biogeographical context generally missing. As part the development global database marine species, we collated information for European seaweeds structured within framework World Register Marine Species (WoRMS). We collected 45 175 records 21 biologically ecologically relevant seaweeds. This resulted...
Encrustation and element content of six charophyte species from two hard‐water lakes were investigated monthly for a period 1 year. Seasonal patterns analyzed the interaction water chemistry. followed seasonal pattern Chara contraria , subspinosa, Nitellopsis obtusa in Lake Krüselin globularis tomentosa Lützlow. However, no seasonality precipitated Ca CO 3 was observed C. subspinosa Lützlow Krüselin, indicating lake‐specific dependency. Species‐specific encrustation found. N. encrusted most...
Encrustation and element content (Ca, Fe, K, Mg P) of charophytes was studied along plant thalli to investigate the dependency thallus age site-specificity. Charophytes were collected from five sampling sites (Angersdorfer Teiche, Asche, Bruchwiesen, Krüselinsee Lützlower See) which distinct with respect water chemistry. Furthermore, photosynthesis measured identify physiological state plants in habitat waters addition different ion concentrations (Ca2+, K+, Mg2+ Na+). Age pattern on...
A side-by-side comparison of the decarboxylation efficacy two pump-driven venovenous extracorporeal lung assist devices, i.e ., a first prototype new miniaturized ambulatory membrane ventilator, I-lung versus commercial system iLA-activve for more than period 72 hours in large animal model. Fifteen German Landrace pigs were anesthetized and underwent mechanical hypoventilation to induce severe hypercapnia. Decarboxylation was accomplished by either or via double lumen catheter jugular vein....

SUMMARY The immediate effect of zinc (Zn) and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O ) in Chara braunii was analyzed short‐time exposure experiments. concentrations were 12.3, 18.4, 24.5 μmol L −1 H , 12, 60, 120 mg Zn, 12.3 + 12 60 18.4 Zn. stress response C. by measuring photosynthetic photosystem II activity, chlorophyll a b carotenoid contents, the concentration, antioxidant enzyme activities ascorbic peroxidase, catalase, guaiacol peroxidase. short‐term addition Zn reduced pigment contents ....
We compared the validity of two low cost camera systems to analyze filtration activity Diplodon chilensis (Gray, 1828), most common freshwater bivalve in southern Chile, by using time lapse photography. One system (Nikon D300) was connected with an external flash, whereas other (GoPro Hero 3+) contained a permanent video light source. Size change exhalant siphon area (ESA) individuals used track changes over time. The D. completely closed for 3.4 % ± 5.2 (mean SD) recording and it shows...
Abstract Over the past few decades water bodies have been heavily contaminated by heavy metals thus charophytes communities tended to disappear from their own habitat niches. In this experiment we hypothesized that elevating Cu concentrations and increasing exposure time deviates biochemical responses of Chara braunii . For evaluating hypothesis considered changes in plant reactive oxygen species (ROS) mainly as hydrogen peroxide. Thereafter, scavenging antioxidant activities were measured...
