Abstract Hedgehog (Hh) signalling regulates hepatic fibrogenesis. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) mediate various cellular processes; however, their role in liver fibrosis is unclear. Here we investigate regulation of miRNAs chronically damaged fibrotic liver. MiRNA profiling shows that expression miR-378 family members (miR-378a-3p, miR-378b and miR-378d) declines carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 )-treated compared with corn-oil-treated mice. Overexpression miR-378a-3p, directly targeting Gli3 activated...

Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are considered as a promising therapeutic tool for liver fibrosis, main feature of chronic disease. Because small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) harboring variety proteins and RNAs known to have similar functions with their derived cells, MSC-derived sEVs carry out the regenerative capacities MSCs. Human tonsil-derived MSCs (T-MSCs) reported novel source MSCs, but effects on fibrosis remain unclear. In present study, we investigated T-MSC-derived fibrosis. The...

Radiation-induced fibrosis constitutes a major problem that is commonly observed in the patients undergoing radiotherapy; therefore, understanding its pathophysiological mechanism important. The Hedgehog (Hh) pathway induces proliferation of progenitors and myofibroblastic hepatic stellate cells (MF-HSCs) promotes epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), thereby regulating repair response damaged liver. We examined normal liver to radiation injury. Male mice were sacrificed at 6 weeks 10...

Kombucha tea (KT) has emerged as a substance that protects the liver from damage; however, its mechanisms of action on fatty remain unclear. Therefore, we investigated potential role KT and underlying nonalcoholic disease (NAFLD). db/db mice were fed methionine/choline-deficient (MCD) diets for seven weeks treated vehicle (M + V) or K) with MCD four additional weeks. Histomorphological injury increased levels enzymes lipids evident in M V group, whereas these symptoms ameliorated K group....

Recently, the need to develop a robust three-dimensional (3D) cell culture system that serves as valuable in vitro tumor model has been emphasized. This should closely mimic growth behaviors observed vivo and replicate key elements characteristics of human tumors for effective discovery development anti-tumor therapeutics. Therefore, this study, we developed an 3D prostate cancer (PC) using marine collagen-based biomimetic scaffold. The displayed distinctive molecular profiles cellular...

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by T-lymphocyte and eosinophil infiltration, mucus overproduction airway hyper-responsiveness. The present study examined the therapeutic effects action mechanism of saponin-enriched extract Asparagus cochinchinensis (SEAC) on inflammation remodeling in an ovalbumin (OVA)-induced asthma model. To accomplish this, alterations nitric oxide (NO) level, inducible synthase (iNOS) cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression levels, as well variations...

Abstract Healthy livers have a remarkable regenerative capacity for reconstructing functional hepatic parenchyma after 70% partial hepatectomy (PH). Hepatocytes, usually quiescent in normal healthy livers, proliferate to compensate loss PH. However, the mechanism of hepatocyte involvement liver regeneration remains unclear. Hedgehog (Hh) pathway plays an important role tissue reconstitution by regulating epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) disease. MicroRNA (miRNA) is involved cell...
