Abstract: Pyogenic granuloma (lobular capillary hemangioma) is a common acquired vascular lesion of the skin and mucous membranes in pediatric age group. This retrospective analysis 178 patients, 17 years younger (mean 6.7 yrs). Forty‐two percent lesions occurred first five life; only 12% appeared infants less than 1 year old. The male:female ratio was 3:2. Most patients (74.2%) had no history trauma or predisposing dermatologic condition. mean lesional size 6.5 mm duration at diagnosis 3.8...

Between 1976 and 1981 Haemophilus influenzae was identified in 16 women with postpartum bacteremia 36 neonates or meningitis. H. also recovered from neonatal genital cultures of 50 additional patients. By counterimmunoelectrophoresis 17% isolates blood cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) were type b. All remaining strains (94% overall) nontypable (NT). Of the NT CSF isolates, 38% belonged to biotype 4. all 4 referred Centers for Disease Control during study, 82% genital, neonatal, maternal origin, a...

One hundred three cases of bacteremia or meningitis due to Haemophilus influenzae in adults were evaluated. Among 96 episodes bacteremia, 60% pneumonia and 15% genital-related infections; 10% had no apparent source infection. Of 42 isolates serotyped routine fashion by slide agglutination, 79% reported as type b. In contrast, 45 from the same interval with confirmed serotyping (usually counterimmunoelectrophoresis), only 29% band 64% nontypable; 26% been misidentified agglutination. The...

Abstract Recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (RDEB) is a genetic disorder due to pathogenic variants in the COL7A1 gene. In this study we determined association between different categories of and clinical disease severity 236 RDEB patients North America. Published reports or in-silico predictions were used assess impact on type VII collagen (C7) protein function. Three postulated: genotypes that would likely cause low C7 function (splice B/missense, missense/missense), medium...

As coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases continue to increase, so do the reported extrapulmonary manifestations of this disease. To date, described dermatologic COVID-19 include pernio-like acral nodules, dengue fever–like petechiae, vesiculobullous eruptions, pityriasis rosea and viral-like exanthems, retiform purpura, livedo reticularis.1 We describe a patient with new-onset, biopsy confirmed sarcoid-like reaction in setting pneumonia postulate role for immunologic hastening recovery.

Hair follicle nevus is a rare benign follicular hamartoma that characterized histologically by the proliferation of vellus hair follicles with peri-follicular fibrous thickening. Clinically, most commonly reported as an asymptomatic papule or nodule on head and neck. Here, we describe unusual presentation presenting atrophic plaque cheek male infant.

ABSTRACT Several cryotherapy techniques are used to treat benign conditions in pediatric dermatology. These include a long‐tipped cotton swab, portable sprayer can (“cryo gun”), and forceps, amongst others. However, all modalities result peri‐procedural pain often emotional distress. We present modification of the swab technique by making wick from rayon‐tipped OB/GYN swab. This may minimize patient distress, while achieving controlled efficacious freeze.

Trimethoprim (TMP) and sulfamethoxazole (SMZ) were studied alone in combination (TMP-SMZ) against 141 nontuberculous mycobacteria; an agar dilution method was used. All strains of Mycobacterium kansasii (8), marinum (16), scrofulaceum (3); 97% (63 65) fortuitum; 27% (3 11)of avium-intracellulare inhibited by ⩽32μg SMZ/ml.
