Various dietary flavonoids were evaluated in vitro for their inhibitory effect on xanthine oxidase, which has been implicated oxidative injury to tissue by ischemia-reperfusion. Xanthine oxidase activity was determined directly measuring uric acid formation HPLC. The structure-activity relationship revealed that the planar flavones and flavonols with a 7-hydroxyl group such as chrysin, luteolin, kaempferol, quercetin, myricetin, isorhamnetin inhibited at low concentrations (IC50 values from...

Abstract The cleavage products formed by autoxidation of lycopene were evaluated in order to elucidate possible oxidation biological tissues. Lycopene solubilized at 50 μM toluene, aqueous Tween 40, or liposomal suspension was oxidized incubating 37°C for 72 h. Among a number formed, eight the carbonyl compound fraction identified as 3,7,11‐trimethyl‐2,4,6,10‐dodecatetraen‐1‐al, 6,10,14‐trimethyl‐3,5,7,9,13‐pentadecapentaen‐2‐one, acycloretinal, apo‐14′‐lycopenal, apo‐12′‐lycopenal,...

Atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration during glacial periods is known to be considerably lower than interglacial periods. However, previous studies using an ocean general circulation model (OGCM) fail reproduce this. Paleoclimate proxy data of the Last Glacial Maximum indicate high salinity (>37.0 practical unit) and long water mass residence time (>3000 years) in Southern Ocean, suggesting that stratification was enhanced more stored there. Reproducibility age considered...

The seismonastic movement of Mimosa pudica is triggered by a sudden loss turgor pressure. In the present study, we compared cell cytoskeleton immunofluorescence analysis before and after movement, effects actin- microtubule-targeted drugs were examined injecting them into cut pulvinus. We found that fragmentation actin filaments microtubules occurs during bending, although cytoskeleton, but not microtubules, was involved in regulation movement. Transmission electron microscopy revealed...

Abstract Cell cycle G2 checkpoint abrogation is an attractive strategy for sensitizing cancer cells to DNA-damaging anticancer agent without increasing adverse effects on normal cells. However, there no single proven molecular target this therapeutic approach. High-throughput screening molecules inhibiting CHK1, a kinase that essential the checkpoint, has not yet yielded inhibitors, and tumor suppressor phenotypes of ATM CHK2 suggest they may be ideal targets. Here, we optimized two...

Abstract Model intercomparison studies of coupled carbon‐climate simulations have the potential to improve our understanding processes explaining drawdown at Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) and identify related model biases. Models participating in Paleoclimate Modeling Intercomparison Project (PMIP) now frequently include carbon cycle. The ongoing PMIP‐carbon project provides first opportunity conduct multimodel comparisons simulated content for LGM time window. However, such a study remains...

The diurnal change of sUA and the effect febuxostat on this were investigated in 10 patients with gout and/or hyperuricemia. after last dose during 4-week treatment phase (20 mg, QD) was almost same as pre-treatment value. Considering dose, AUC(obs) Cmax unchanged drug hyperuricemia estimated to be similar those healthy male adults. results show that a 6-week is safe well-tolerated target patient population for drug.

Lipid peroxidation of human heptoma cell line, HepG2, after incorporation linoleic acid (LA), arachidonic (AA), and docosahexaenoic (DHA) was measured with a fluorescent probe gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) analysis. The analysis showed that each polyunsaturated fatty (PUFA) enhanced the cellular lipid level, but there little difference in effect LA, AA, or DHA on enhancement peroxidation. also addition H2O2 (0.5 mM) levels LA AA supplemented cells as compared those without...

Abstract. Sedimentary 231Pa/230Th ratios provide clues to estimate the strength of past ocean circulation. For its estimation, understanding processes controlling distributions 231Pa and 230Th in is important. However, simulations dissolved particulate modern ocean, recently obtained from GEOTRACES project, remain challenging. Here we report a model simulation global with COCO ver4.0. Starting basic water-column reversible scavenging model, also introduced bottom dependence efficiency on...

Abstract Atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration ( p CO 2 ) varies by about 100ppm during glacial‐interglacial cycles. Previous studies suggest that the strongly stratified Southern Ocean at Last Glacial Maximum increases oceanic storage of carbon, but glacial reduction atmospheric simulated ocean general circulation models (OGCMs) does not reach 100ppm. One candidate for underestimation is carbonate compensation explicitly incorporated in previous OGCM simulations. Therefore, we...
