Tissue factor (TF), the protease receptor initiating coagulation system, functions in vascular development, angiogenesis, and tumor cell metastasis by poorly defined molecular mechanisms. We demonstrate that immobilized ligands for TF specifically support adhesion, migration, spreading, intracellular signaling, which are not inhibited RGD peptides. Two-hybrid screening identified actin-binding protein 280 (ABP-280) as ligand cytoplasmic domain. Extracellular ligation of is necessary ABP-280...

ABSTRACT Two biocontrol agents, a yeast (Pichia guilermondii) and bacterium (Bacillus mycoides), were tested separately together for suppression of Botrytis cinerea on strawberry leaves plants. Scanning electron microscopy revealed significant inhibition conidial germination in the presence Pichia guilermondii, whereas Bacillus mycoides caused breakage destruction conidia. When both agents applied mixture, was more severe. The modes action each elucidated relative quantitative contribution...

Anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) glomerulonephritis is a rare disease caused by IgG autoantibodies against the glomerular membrane. We describe clinical and pathologic findings in series of renal biopsy specimens from 80 patients. The patients ranged age 16 to 87 years. distribution was bimodal, with one peak at young predominated males second sixth eighth decades females predominating. Most (70 [88%]) had severe necrotizing crescents more that 50% glomeruli. fraction crescentic...

Tesat together with Synopta have built a Transportable Adaptive Optical Ground Station (TAOGS) under contract of German Aerospace Center DLR for communication the 1st and 2nd generation Tesat's spaceborne Laser Communication Terminals (LCTs), which employ coherent homodyne optical 1064 nm binary phase shift keying (BPSK) modulation. The TAOGS is able to communicate space segments on low earth orbit (LEO, high pointing tracking dynamics, 5.625 Gbps), geostationary (GEO,...

Progestins have been used in the treatment of recurrent endometrial adenocarcinoma for almost 50 yr. Some carcinomas respond to hormonal therapy, but mechanism action remains incompletely known. We wished determine efficacy progestins induce a histologic response endometrioid and explore its effects on immunohistochemical measures growth cell death. The Gynecologic Oncology Group initiated study 75 women with adenocarcinoma, 59 whom received progestin, medroxyprogesterone acetate 21 24 d...

Two-wavelength double heterodyne interferometry is applied for topographic measurements on optically rough target surfaces. A two-wavelength He–Ne laser and a matched grating technique are used to improve system stability simplify frequency generation.

Prostate field cancerization denotes molecular alterations in histologically normal tissues adjacent to tumors. Such include deregulated protein expression, as we have previously shown for the key transcription factor early growth response 1 (EGR-1) and lipogenic enzyme fatty acid synthase (FAS). Here add two secreted factors macrophage inhibitory cytokine (MIC-1) platelet derived A (PDGF-A) growing list of markers prostate cancerization. Expression MIC-1 PDGF-A was measured quantitatively...

Primary ovarian small cell carcinomas are rare tumors that subclassified into the hypercalcemic (HT) and pulmonary type (PT), each tumor has different clinicopathologic characteristics. However, overlapping morphologic features can make distinction between these lesions difficult. The PT carcinoma is very rare, with only one series a few case reports published. authors report two additional cases of this entity also for first time immunohistochemical finding perinuclear dot-like staining...

We present a case of rapidly progressive pseudomembranous tracheobronchitis and pneumonia in 52-year-old woman with severe aplastic anemia. Bacillus cereus was isolated from bronchoalveolar lavage fluids, blood cultures, pseudomembrane biopsy specimens; despite intensive antibiotic treatment, the patient's condition deteriorated rapidly. To our knowledge, this is first report B. infection that has caused tracheobronchitis, possibly because production bacterial toxins.
