To date, very little research has been carried out in nursing homes and it is difficult to make recommendations for quality of care that are based on actual data. The Réseau de Recherche en Etablissement d'Hébergement pour Personnes Agées (REHPA) a functional network established collaboration between the geriatric department Toulouse University Hospital 240 with aim compensating lack evidence-based enhancing research. A cross-sectional observational study was conducted January March 2008....

Abstract Background The comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) is the gold standard in oncology to identify patients at high risk of adverse outcomes and optimize cancer overall management. Many studies have demonstrated that CGA could modify oncologic treatment decision. However, there little knowledge on which domains are associated with this change. Moreover, impact frailty physical performance change plan has been rarely assessed. Methods This a cross-sectional study older solid or...

An unprecedented domino radical cyclisation–Smiles rearrangement process affording 3-(2′-aryl-N-methyl acetamido)indolin-2-ones is presented. Experimental rationalisation of this approach and description an unexpected tricyclic core are also handled.

The First French Fall Prevention Day for Elderly People took place in Montpellier on October 1, 2024. This event highlighted the elderly people's interest in: i) public conference providing information fall risk factors and general preventive measures; ii) workshops across metropolitan area offering individual assessments, personalized advice based identified levels factors. It also healthcare professionals training institutes roles of various field actors care pathway older individuals at...

We analyzed the effect of age on highly active antiretroviral therapy efficacy and tolerance in 639 patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection (99 whom were aged >50 years, 540 <50 years). Late testing, which was more frequent older group, only independent factor associated immunologic clinical evolution infection. Age years earlier treatment discontinuation.

A one-pot methodology for the synthesis of polyfunctionalized indole derivatives by a TiCl4/Et3N-promoted trimolecular condensation aldehydes, heterocycles, and various activated carbonyl compounds is reported. Rationalization these reactions extension to other heterocyclic systems also described.

The condensation of dialkyl beta-diesters with various aldehydes promoted by TiCl4 has been studied DFT approaches and experimental methods, including NMR, IR UV/Vis spectroscopy. Various possible reaction pathways have investigated their energy profiles evaluated to find out a plausible mechanism the reaction. Theoretical results evidence point three-step mechanism: 1) Ti-induced formation enolate ion; 2) aldol between ion aldehyde, both coordinated titanium; 3) intramolecular elimination...

Simple three-step asymmetric and racemic syntheses of GlaxoSmithKline's highly potent PDE IVb inhibitor 1 were developed. The suggested approach is based on reductive domino transformations 3-β-carbomethoxyethyl-substituted six-membered cyclic nitronates, which are easily accessed by a stereoselective [4 + 2] cycloaddition an appropriate nitroalkene to vinyl ethers. In vitro studies inhibition enantiomeric pyrrolizidinones (+)-1 (−)-1 performed.

Hematological treatment decisions in older adults with hematological malignancies are complex. Our objective is to study the impact of a comprehensive geriatric assessment on decision patients and factors associated change plan.We conducted cross-sectional analysis aged 65 years above malignancies, hospitalized between 2008 2019 at University Cancer Institute Toulouse. They were assessed by geriatrician/nurse team using (CGA). A penalized logistic regression model elastic net regularization...

Abstract Background Among the most burdensome clinical conditions occurring in older persons, respiratory infections are particularly relevant. In fact, onset of pneumonias is associated with a significant worsening individual’s global health status and increase healthcare costs. The economical negative consequences pneumonia may be evident among frailest groups elders, particular those living nursing home. Nevertheless, specific research on incidence effects homes residents still scarce....
