The identities and frequencies of MYO15A mutations associated with hearing loss in different populations remained largely unknown. We screened the gene for 104 unrelated multiplex consanguineous Turkish families autosomal recessive nonsyndromic sensorineural using autozygosity mapping. screening 10 mapped to DFNB3 locus revealed five previously unreported mutations: p.Y289X (1 family), p.V1400M p.S1481P p.R1937TfsX10 (3 families), p.S3335AfsX121 (2 families). Recurrent were conserved...

Background Although patients with nasal polyposis frequently exhibit concomitant allergy, there is limited information about the impact of allergy on severity polyposis. The goal this study was to evaluate role in Methods Polyp sizes, computed tomography (CT) scores, skin-prick test results, blood total eosinophil count, serum levels immunoglobulin E, symptom and recurrences were analyzed 83 results compared between allergic nonallergic Results No association found presence per testing polyp...

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a rheumatic disease characterized by chronic inflammation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the functions cochlea and vestibular system in patients with AS. group consisted 32 AS 30 healthy volunteers as control group. Otorhinolaryngologic examinations were performed all together pure-tone audiometry, speech tests, impedancemetry, transient evoked otoacoustic emission (TEOAE) electronystagmography (ENG). A significant difference found between 2 groups...

Using Affymetrix 10K arrays, we searched for regions of homozygosity in 51 Turkish families including at least three members with either congenital or prelingual autosomal recessive non‐syndromic sensorineural hearing loss (ARNSSNHL), and identified four whose deafness mapped to the DFNB6 locus on 3p21 containing TMIE gene. Mutation analysis revealed p.R84W mutation all families. Screening this 254 ARNSSNHL, without GJB2 mutations, additional affected A novel was found a non‐complementary...

Background Expression of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 increases in nasal polyp tissues. However, the impact MMP-9 genotypes on development polyposis (NP) is unknown. The aim this study was to examine a potential association promoter gene polymorphism with NP. Methods A prospective and case–control performed 93 patients NP 115 controls without sinonasal disease. Genotypes (–1562C>T) were identified by restriction fragment length analyses after polymerase chain reaction. Results...

A disintegrin and metalloproteinase (ADAM)-33 is a member of matrix metalloproteinases. This protein takes role in angiogenesis airway remodeling asthma. Because histopathological findings asthma nasal polyposis (NP) are similar, the aim this study was to evaluate ADAM-33 expression NP.Immunohistochemical staining specimens 47 patients with NP 8 concha bullosa performed detect ADAM-33. Paraffin blocks were used identify polyclonal antibodies. Immunostaining epithelial cells, stroma,...
