Abstract Background Less invasive alternatives than early cholecystectomy (EC) for acute calculous cholecystitis (ACC) treatment have been spreading in recent years. We still lack a reliable tool to select high-risk patients who could benefit from these alternatives. Our study aimed prospectively validate the Chole-risk score predicting postoperative complications undergoing EC ACC compared with other preoperative risk prediction models. Method The S.P.Ri.M.A.C.C. is World Society of...
Abstract Background Literature suggests colonic resection and primary anastomosis (RPA) instead of Hartmann’s procedure (HP) for the treatment left-sided emergencies. We aim to evaluate surgical options globally used treat patients with acute emergencies factors that leading choice treatment, comparing HP RPA. Methods This is a prospective, international, multicenter, observational study registered on ClinicalTrials.gov. A total 1215 who required surgery were included from 204 centers during...
Colon cancer surgery is a complex clinical pathway and traditional quality metrics may exhibit significant variability between hospitals healthcare providers. The Textbook Outcome (TO) composite marker capturing the fraction of patients, in whom all desired short-term outcomes care are realised. aim present study was to assess TO series non-metastatic colon patients treated with curative intent, emphasis on long-term survival.Stage I-III who underwent colectomy following Complete Mesocolic...
Abstract Introduction A textbook outcome patient is one in which the operative course passes uneventful, without complications, readmission or mortality. There a lack of publications terms TO on acute cholecystitis. Objetive The objective this study to analyze achievement patients with urgent early cholecystectomy (UEC) for Acute Cholecystitis. and identify factors are related achieving TO. Materials methods This post hoc SPRiMACC study. It´s prospective multicenter observational run by...
Lymphangiomas are rare benign tumours of lymphatic vascular origin. They more common in the paediatric population and manifest mainly neck axillary region. Retroperitoneal lymphangiomas <1% pancreatic origin is even rarer. We present a case cystic lymphangioma 60-year-old woman with chronic diffuse symptoms, diagnosed because newly onset diabetes mellitus. She was successfully managed distal pancreatectomy spleenectomy en-bloc mass without any complications. Cystic pancreas entity presenting...
Gorham–Stout syndrome is an uncommon entity, with few cases reported in bibliography. It consists of osteolytic manifestations affecting various bones and replacing them lymphangiomatous tissue. With pathophysiology unknown, disease affects also cardiorespiratory system usually causing lytic lesions to the thoracic cage or directly invading duct. This a case report unique respiratory manifestation review its complications.
Pancreatic mature cystic teratomas are very rare with limited cases found in the literature. These lesions raise a diagnostic challenge and complicate surgical approach not only because of their anatomic position but also ever-growing size. An elusive diagnosis, usually leads to operative theatre where resection takes place. We present case large pancreatic teratoma extending into mediastinum 29-year-old woman which was succesfully managed en-bloc distal pancreatectomy spleenectomy.
We report a case of 57 years old woman with solitary mass located in the pelvis diagnosed as an extrarenal papillary renal cell carcinoma, absence primary cancer. The diagnosis was based on cytomorphological features and further confirmed by immunochemistry findings following surgical excision. hypothesis tumor developing supernumerary or ectopic kidney excluded, since no normal tissue could be identified specimen preoperative computed tomography MRI images.
Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is an uncommon type of sarcoma that arises from a or any tissue with differentiation. It does not have specific symptoms and shows great variability in clinical radiological findings. usually associated neurofibromatosis 1 (NF1). tumors mostly originate soft organs rarely the small bowel. Less than 20 cases intestinal MPNSTs are recorded worldwide. Therefore, we present this unique case 78-year-old woman, no history NF1, who presented abdominal...
