The essential oil extracted from rhizome and leaf of Curcuma angustifolia Roxb. (Zingiberaceae) was characterised by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). GC-MS analysis revealed the presence 32 35 identified constituents, comprising 92.6% 92% total oil, respectively. Curzerenone (33.2%), 14-hydroxy-δ-cadinene (18.6%) γ-eudesmol acetate (7.3%) were main components in oil. In curzerenone (72.6%), camphor (3.3%) germacrone found to be major constituents. Antioxidant capacities assessed...
The increasing demand for plant-based bioactive compounds has fueled interest in exploring natural antioxidants and antimicrobial agents. Curcuma caesia Roxb., commonly known as black turmeric, holds significant potential a source of This study investigated the antioxidant sequential extracts from C. rhizomes leaves, utilizing solvents varying polarity (n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, methanol water). extraction yields varied between 1.69% 6.34%, with n-hexane providing highest yield...
The current research employed advanced GC × TOFMS analysis for comprehensive profiling of the essential oils (EOs) extracted from rhizomes and leaves Curcuma caesia (black turmeric) first time. study revealed a total 151 constituents, including 97 114 previously undocumented compounds in rhizome leaf oils, respectively. Sesquiterpenes monoterpenes emerged as predominant components, accounting more than 60% each oil. constituents C. EO include curzerenone (11.45%), eucalyptol (7.56%),...
Hedychium coronarium Koen. (Zingiberaceae) is traditionally used as medicine in countries such India, China, and Vietnam for treatment of various ailments including cancer. However, spite its implied significance cancer regimes, there are no reports so far involving the anticancerous attributes H, ethanol extract (HCEE) on cells a more comprehensive study mechanism still lacking. The cytotoxicity HCEE was evaluated by MTT clonogenic survival assay. Annexin V/propidium iodide (PI), Hoechst...
Curcuma longa L. (turmeric), family Zingiberaceae, is an industrially valued plant having multipurpose use in cosmetics, dye, food and pharmaceutical industries. In the present study, essential oil content composition of 8 Indian turmeric cultivars has been analysed under similar environmental condition. The fresh rhizomes varied from 0.5-0.9 % (v/w) yield per 1.6-3.49 ml. GC/MS analysis shown presence about 24-32 compounds representing 78.6-90.2 total among cultivars. major identified were...
Background Curcuma caesia Roxb. (Black turmeric) is a perennial medicinal herb belonging to the Zingiberaceae family that endangered in Southeast Asia. It treasured for its high-quality essential oil with tremendous and aromatic properties. In present scenario, C. an unexplored plant drug discovery. Objectives The study was undertaken compare bioactivities of Thirty rhizomes leaf oils collected from various eco-regions Eastern India. Materials Methods comparative antioxidant antimicrobial...
Curcuma angustifolia Roxb. (Family: Zingiberaceae) is an important rhizomatous medicinal herb, grows wild in India. The leaf essential oil of C. was extracted by hydro-distillation and analyzed using Gas chromatography/Mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Forty six compounds comprising 91.17 % the total peak area were identified. major components 8,9-dehydro-9-formyl-cycloisolongifolene (33.48 %) followed curzerenone (11.81 %), xanthorrhizol isomer (7.59 eucalyptol (6.62 camphor (3.27 germacrone (3.21...
Pandanus odorifer (Forssk.) Kuntze is an economically important aromatic plant. The essential oil from male flowers widely used in aromatherapy, cosmetics and as food flavouring agent. Phenylethyl methyl ether (PEME), the major constituent of oil, gives chief characteristic fragrance to oil. In present study, 180 samples 12 different regions were collected hydrodistilled for isolation. was then subjected GC GC-MS analysis find out percentage constituents. results revealed PEME ranging 58.03...
Kewda (Pandanus fascicularis Lam.) is a well known medicinal and aromatic plant. The paper aims to precisely characterize volatile constituents present in flower oil using comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography coupled time of flight mass spectrometry (GCxGC-TOFMS). A total 159 components were identified due enhanced chromatographic separation spectral deconvolution GCxGC-TOFMS. On the basis its chemical structure, compounds grouped into hydrocarbons, alcohols, ethers, ketones,...
