Adventitial cystic disease (ACD) is an unusual arteriopathy; case reports and small series constitute the available literature regarding treatment. We sought to examine presentation, contemporary management, long-term outcomes using a multi-institutional database.Using standardized database, 14 institutions retrospectively collected demographics, comorbidities, presentation/symptoms, imaging, treatment, follow-up data on consecutive patients treated for ACD during 10-year period, Society...
Diversity in postgraduate training programs can be increased through program-based recruitment strategies. Prospective applicants often examine website content to determine if are inclusive and offer a good fit. Poor overlap between program director goals as barrier recruiting diverse physician workforce has not extensively been studied. The aim of this study was characterize barriers cardiovascular specialties the United States. Cross-sectional survey directors evaluation for adult general...
ObjectiveManagement of follow-up protocols after endovascular aortic repair (EVAR), vary significantly between centres and is not standardized according to the sac regression. By designing an international expert-based Delphi consensus, study aimed create recommendations on EVAR evolution.MethodsEight facilitators created appropriate statements regarding topic that were voted, using a 4-point Likert scale, by selected panel experts three-round modified consensus process. Based experts'...
The median arcuate ligament can compress the proximal portion of celiac artery causing symptoms chronic mesenteric ischemia. This rare condition typically affects young women and often poses a diagnostic challenge. Compression superior (SMA) in addition to represents an unusual variant syndrome (MALS). We present case MALS resulting predominantly from external compression SMA. Diagnostic therapeutic options are discussed.
Aneurysmal pelvic arteriovenous malformations in male patients are exceptionally rare. Upon spontaneous or traumatic rupture, these aneurysms can cause severe hemorrhage and often associated with high mortality. Given that most intact found after symptomatic presentation, other case reports have detailed an approach for elective endovascular treatment concomitant arterial venous embolization. We describe incidental discovery of a 7-cm-high flow aneurysmal malformation successful strategy...
Acute pulmonary embolism is associated with a significant number of deaths each year, which are commonly attributed to deep venous thrombosis the lower extremity. Pulmonary due right-sided cardiac thrombus transvenous wires rare occurrence. Treatment considerations have been systemic anticoagulation heparin or thrombolytic therapy. A unique case patient symptomatic PE and extensive atrial ventricle formation pacing treated ultrasound accelerated catheter directed thrombolysis presented.
Diabetes mellitus is a leading cause of renal failure in the US and has been associated with higher mortality when compared to nondiabetic patients. This remains true despite initiation replacement therapy. As such, we were interested identifying any potential differences access durability postoperative outcomes diabetic patients who receive arteriovenous fistulas versus grafts for hemodialysis.
