The beta decay of 33Mg (N=21) presented in this Letter reveals intruder configurations both the parent and daughter nucleus. lowest excited states N=20 nucleus, 33Al, are found to have nearly 2p-2h configuration, thus extending "island inversion" beyond Mg. allowed direct beta-decay branch 5/2{+} ground state nucleus 33Al implies positive parity for 33Mg, contrary an earlier suggestion negative from a g-factor measurement.
