Under anaerobic conditions the sulfonated azo dye Mordant Yellow 3 was reduced by biomass of a bacterial consortium grown aerobically with 6-aminonaphthalene-2-sulfonic acid. Stoichiometric amounts aromatic amines 6-aminonaphthalene-2-sulfonate and 5-aminosalicylate were generated excreted into medium. After re-aeration culture, these mineralized different members culture. Thus, total degradation achieved using an alternating anaerobic-aerobic treatment. The ability mixed culture to reduce...

The addition of quinoid redox mediators to anaerobically incubated cultures various taxonomically different bacterial species resulted in significantly increased reduction rates for the azo dye amaranth. From quinones tested, generally anthraquinone-2-sulfonate (AQS) and lawsone (2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone) caused highest increase azoreductase activities. effects AQS were studied greater detail with Sphingomonas xenophaga BN6 Escherichia coli K12. The anaerobic reduction of azo dyes by Sphingomonas sp. strain BN6 was analyzed. Aerobic conversion 2-naphthalenesulfonate (2NS) cells stimulated the subsequent sulfonated dye amaranth at least 10-fold. In contrast, in crude extracts, reductase activity not stimulated. A mutant which able to metabolize 2NS showed increased rates only when were resuspended culture supernatant 2NS-grown wild-type cells. same increase could be observed with different bacterial strains. This suggested presence...

The energy of 0.83±0.65(stat)±1.25(syst) MeV above threshold four-neutron decay with a significance level 4.9σ. Utilizing large positive Q value (^{8}He,^{8}Be) reaction, an almost recoilless condition system was achieved so as to obtain weakly interacting efficiently.
