BACKGROUNDInsulin resistance of the brain can unfavorably affect long-term weight maintenance and body fat distribution. Little is known if how insulin sensitivity be restored in humans. We aimed to evaluate effects an exercise intervention on this relates exercise-induced changes whole-body metabolism behavior.METHODSIn clinical trial, sedentary participants who were overweight obese underwent 8-week supervised aerobic training intervention. Brain was assessed 21 (14 women, 7 men; age range...
Abstract Brain insulin responsiveness is linked to long-term weight gain and unhealthy body fat distribution. Here we show that short-term overeating with calorie-rich sweet fatty foods triggers liver accumulation disrupted brain action outlasted the time-frame of its consumption in healthy men. Hence, response can adapt changes diet before may facilitate development obesity associated diseases.
Abstract Background/Objectives Central insulin action influences cognitive processes, peripheral metabolism, and eating behavior. However, the contribution of obesity sex on central insulin-mediated neural food cue processing still remains unclear. Subjects/Methods In a randomized within-participant design, including two visits, 60 participants (30 women, BMI 18–32 kg/m 2 , age 21–69 years) underwent functional MRI task measuring blood oxygen level-dependent (BOLD) signal in response to...
Insulin action in the brain influences cognitive processes, peripheral metabolism and eating behaviour. However, influence of age insulin sensitivity on remains unclear. We used intranasal administration functional magnetic resonance imaging a randomized, placebo-controlled within-subject design 110 participants (54 women, body mass index 18-49 kg/m2 , 21-74 years). Cerebral blood flow was measured before after nasal spray application to assess action. Peripheral assessed by five-point oral...
Abstract Reactivation of newly acquired memories during sleep across hippocampal and neocortical systems is proposed to underlie memory consolidation. Here, we investigate spontaneous reprocessing by applying machine learning source space-transformed magnetoencephalographic data in a two-step exploratory confirmatory study design. We decode memory-related activity from slow oscillations hippocampus, frontal cortex precuneus, indicating parallel processing sleep. Moreover, show complementary...
