Abstract The biofabrication of large natural biomaterial scaffolds into complex 3D shapes which have a controlled microarchitecture remains major challenge. Freeze‐drying (or lyophilization) is technique used to generate in planar geometries. Here we report the development new process form collagen‐based scaffold large, geometry has height width ratio, and porous microarchitecture. This validated through successful heart valve shaped scaffold, fabricated from collagen‐glycosaminoglycan...
Elastic fibres play a key role in bodily functions where fatigue resistance and elastic recovery are necessary while regulating phenotype, proliferation migration cells. While vivo created at late foetal stage, major obstacle the development of engineered tissue is that human vascular smooth muscle cells (hVSMCs), one principal elastogenic cells, unable to spontaneously promote elastogenesis vitro. Therefore, overall aim this study was activate vitro by hVSMCs seeded fibrin, collagen,...
CONCLUSIONS A crosslinked, multicomponent scaffold of collagen, GAG and fibrin has been characterised for heart valve applications. Fibrin gels reinforced with a 0.75% 0.044% scaffolds can resist VSMC induced contraction significantly more than fibrin-only gels, while allowing cell proliferation maintaining excellent viability. This improvement in structural integrity may facilitate the use based materials tissue engineering.
In education project teams that reflect organisational concepts considered normal in industrial design have a range of benefits for learning and graduate employability. They present issues terms management individual group expectations. This paper focuses primarily on the expectation perceived performance as they manifest themselves through self-assessment. It interprets student perception expectations their performance, along with experiences tutors capstone graduating year BSc Medical...
