Purpose: To analyze the accuracy of newer intraocular lens power formulas in long and short eyes measured using sum-of-segments biometry. Setting: Private practice, Lynwood, California. Design: Retrospective observational study. Methods: 595 patients scheduled for cataract surgery had their The expected residual refractions were calculated Barrett Universal II (B II), True Axial Length (BTAL), Emmetropia Verifying Optical (EVO), Hill-RBF, Hoffer QST, Holladay 2, 2-NLR, K6, Kane, Olsen,...

PURPOSE: To investigate the accuracy of measurements provided by a new optical biometer (OA-2000, Tomey Corporation, Nagoya, Japan) for calculating intraocular lens (IOL) power and to compare refractive outcomes those obtained with IOLMaster 500 (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Jena, Germany). METHODS: In this interventional multicenter study, consecutive patients having cataract surgery were enrolled. Only IOL model used in largest sample was selected eyes implanted that subsequently analyzed. The...

Fourteen patients with unilateral exophthalmos were found on A-scan ultrasound examination to have enlarged extraocular muscles. Thyroid dysfunction later was documented in 12 (86%) by laboratory tests and subsequent clinical examination. The suspicion of endocrine orbitopathy based the presence muscles both orbits difference thickness between corresponding orbital including specific muscle measurements is a simple apparently reliable method diagnosing early thyroid orbitopathy.
