We herein describe a safe and reproducible technique for left atrial volume reduction in patients with giant atrium. In 56-year-old patient undergoing redo mitral valve replacement, the atrium measured 18×20×17 cm occupying middle-lower segment of right hemithorax compression adjacent organs. The was reduced by triangular resections wall replaced using mechanical prosthesis. postoperative course uneventful diameter 11.2 at latest control.

Some researchers have observed an increased number of deaths during the follow-up young patients who undergo aortic valve replacement due to severe stenosis, suggesting that this procedure does not restore their life expectancy. Our goal was confirm these findings and explore sex-based differences. All between 50 65 years age underwent isolated in 27 Spanish centres 18-year period were included. We compared expected survival at 15 estimated cumulative incidence death from a competing risks...

However, there lack published data outlining its usefulness in vascular graft (VGI). The aim this study was to describe clinical experience daptomycin use VGI caused by Gram-positive bacteria. This retrospective cohort patients diagnosed with receiving at tertiary care hospital during period January 2010 December 2012.Of total 1066 consecutive who had undergone grafts...

Massive or submassive pulmonary embolism (PE) carries a high mortality. Traditionally this condition has been treated with thrombolysis anticoagulation and support measures. Surgical embolectomy is carried out in situations of hemodynamic instability contraindication for thrombolysis. We present our results surgical patients massive PE.Over three-year period, we have 20 embolectomies acute PE. The mean age was 66 years, there were 11 males. In all cases, the diagnosis had made by...

A young male presented with a right parasternal stab wound. The chest radiography was normal and transthoracic echocardiography ruled out pericardial tamponade. He remained hemodynamically stable until three hours later when signs of progressive anemia were observed. Chest computed tomography showed massive right-sided hemothorax. patient underwent surgery, which revealed an active bleeding atriopleural fistula connecting the atrium draining into pleura resulting from negative pressure...
