We present near-infrared (NIR) time-series spectroscopy, as well complementary ultraviolet (UV), optical, and NIR data, of the Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) iPTF13ebh, which was discovered within two days from estimated time explosion. The first spectrum taken merely 2.3 after explosion may be earliest yet obtained a SN Ia. most striking features in are several C I lines, λ1.0693 μm line is strongest ever observed Interestingly, no strong optical II counterparts were found, even though...

We present optical and near infrared (NIR) observations of the nearby Type Ia SN 2014J. Seventeen 23 NIR spectra were obtained from 10 days before (−10d) to after (+10d) time maximum B-band brightness. The relative strengths absorption features their patterns development can be compared at one day intervals throughout most this period. Carbon is not detected in spectra, but we identify C i λ1.0693 spectra. Mg ii lines with high oscillator have higher initial velocities than other lines. show...

Abstract The α2-to-O transformation, with its characteristic microstructural features, occurs across the entire range of compositions in alloys based on Ti3A1-Ti2AINb system. In this paper, we describe isothermal decomposition α2-to O(O1)-phase a Ti-28.5 at.% A1–13 Nb alloy, first detailed study transformation. Both parent and product phases are ordered an identical site occupancy. transformation is accomplished by lattice distortion small composition change. features patterns that evolve...
