During September-December 2020, we conducted a multicenter retrospective study across India to evaluate epidemiology and outcomes among cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19)-associated mucormycosis (CAM). Among 287 patients, 187 (65.2%) had CAM; CAM prevalence was 0.27% hospitalized COVID-19 patients. We noted 2.1-fold rise in during the period compared with 2019. Uncontrolled diabetes mellitus most common underlying non-CAM only 32.6% COVID-19-related hypoxemia improper glucocorticoid use...

Abstract Background Data on mixed mould infection with COVID‐19‐associated pulmonary aspergillosis (CAPA) and mucormycosis (CAPM) are sparse. Objectives To ascertain the prevalence of co‐existent CAPA in CAPM (mixed infection) whether is associated early mortality (≤7 days diagnosis). Methods We retrospectively analysed data collected from 25 centres across India mucormycosis. included only excluded subjects disseminated or rhino‐orbital defined if a respiratory specimen showed septate...

Dear Editor, A large number of mucormycosis cases were reported in India following the second wave COVID-19.[1] However, data on imaging appearance COVID-19-associated pulmonary (CAPM) are limited.[2] few published case reports CAPM and a systematic literature review suggested cavity consolidation as most common finding.[3-6] The primary objective current study was to describe computed tomography (CT) thorax findings at diagnosis. secondary objectives compare CT (1) patients with diabetes...

Invasive cryptococcosis is the third most common invasive fungal infection among organ transplant recipients.1 The frequently encountered clinical manifestation cryptococcal meningoencephalitis (CM) which may be easily missed because of varying presentations. 1-year mortality estimated at 20-30% even with long-term consolidated antifungal therapy. Here we report a case combined pulmonary and meningitis in renal allograft recipient. This illustrates difficulty estimating real extent disease...
