AIE-active positional isomers, TTE-o-PhCHO, TTE-m-PhCHO and TTE-p-PhCHO, tetrathienylethene (TTE) derivates with peripherally attached ortho-/meta-/para-formyl phenyl groups, were designed synthesized. The formyl substitution position can effectively modulate their photophysical properties, mechanochromism fluorescent response to hydrazine. TTE-o-PhCHO exhibit remarkable AIE characteristics, TTE-p-PhCHO possesses aggregation-induced emission enhancement performance. They all high contrast...

Our knowledge in how extracellular vesicles (EVs) are secreted from cells remains inadequate due to the limited technologies available for visualizing them situ. We report a pH-reversible boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) fluorescent probe confocal imaging of EVs living without inducing severe cytotoxicity. This predominantly assumes non-fluorescent leuco-BODIPY form under basic conditions, but it gradually switches its parent BODIPY upon acidification; such pH transition empowers acidic (such...

The first example of palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura coupling between benzyl sulfonates and arylboronic acids was reported in this paper. In the presence a well-defined, air-stable easily available NHC-Pd(II)-Im complex, all reactions worked well to give desired products good almost quantitative yields under optimal conditions. Electron-rich, -neutral, -poor sterically-hindered substituents on both substrates are tolerated such transformation, providing convenient, efficient alternative...

A highly selective NIR fluorescent turn-on probe for hydroxyl radical (·OH) has been built up using triphenylphosphine as a reactive-site ·OH in an energy transfer cassette 2b consisting of 8-2'-(thiophen-2-yl) quinoline (TQ) donor and 3,5-diphenylphosphinostyryl-substituted BODIPY acceptor, which exhibits ca. 317 nm pseudo Stokes' shift due to efficient through-bond (up 169%). The substituent selectively oxidized by over the other reactive oxygen species (ROS) nitrogen (RNS) resulting...

A new class of BOPPY derivatives has been facilely synthesized by a two-step reaction coupling 3,5-dimethylpyrrole-2-carbaldehyde with 2,3-dihydrazinoquinoxaline (QDH) followed coordinating BF3·OEt2. The mainly produces triboron complex 3 within 1 h, while pair B-O-B bridged trans-cis isomers 4 and 4' are formed as the time elongates to 8 h. Moreover, two bromide products 4Br 4Br' prepared almost quantitatively bromination 4', respectively. coordinated B-N bonds impede free rotation bridge,...

Abstract Real-time monitoring of newly acidified organelles during autophagy in living cells is highly desirable for a better understanding intracellular degradative processes. Herein, we describe reaction-based boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) dye containing strongly electron-withdrawing diethyl 2-cyanoacrylate groups at the α-positions. The probe exhibits intense red fluorescence acidic or cytosol while exhibiting negligible other regions cell. underlying mechanism nucleophilic reaction...
