An integrated system for photo-accumulation (photoreduction) and sensing, based on a Zr/ZrO2 electrode, has been developed the detection of trace heavy metals. The nanostructuring electrode was achieved by anodizing, which produced nanotubular structure. Solutions containing Cd(II), Pb(II), Cu(II) Hg(II) were used analysis. Linear calibration plots obtained in concentration ranges from 8 × 10−8 to 10−5 M 5 2 10−6 4 Hg(II).

Electric Double Layer Capacitors (EDLCs) are relatively new electronic components developed in the late 1980s; their operation is based on a Helmholtz double layer of charge formed an activated carbon surface (of high equivalent surface) and electrolyte. The advantages this constructive solution very small capacitive distance large effective area, leading to remarkably capacitances. EDLCs tend be low voltage, impedance devices, sustaining currents, with capacitance dependent charge-up...

In the present work a study on TiO2 ordered structures was pursued using an electrolyte with low water content (glycerol containing 4% H2O). The results led to determination of two distinct states matrix structure: one nanotubes for lower values applied voltage and another nanopores higher voltage. These are interpreted three key investigation methods: potentiostatic method growth, atomic force microscopy scanning electron surface characterization.
