Abstract Background Wild birds may harbor and transmit viruses that are potentially pathogenic to humans, domestic animals, other wildlife. Results Using the viral metagenomic approach, we investigated virome of cloacal swab specimens collected from 3182 (the majority them wild species) consisting > 87 different species in 10 orders within Aves classes. The virus diversity was higher than breeding birds. We acquired 707 genomes 18 defined families 4 unclassified groups, with 265 sharing...

Abstract Background Yaks are able to utilize the gastrointestinal microbiota digest plant materials. Although cellulolytic bacteria in yak rumen have been reported, there is still limited information on diversity of major microorganisms and putative carbohydrate-metabolizing enzymes for degradation complex lignocellulosic biomass its gut ecosystem. Results Here, this study aimed decode biomass-degrading genes genomes fecal using deep metagenome sequencing. A comprehensive catalog comprising...

Tibetan pig is an important domestic mammal, providing products of high nutritional value for millions people living in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The genomes mammalian gut microbiota encode a large number carbohydrate-active enzymes, which are essential digestion complex polysaccharides through fermentation. However, current understanding microbial degradation dietary carbohydrates limited. In this study, we produced approximately 145 gigabases metagenomic sequence data fecal samples from...

Several animal species can reportedly act as reservoirs for Hepatitis E virus (HEV), a zoonotic pathogen. HEV and antibody to the have been detected in variety of animals including rodents. Pig rat models established HEV, but nude mouse has not yet developed. Balb/c mice were inoculated with swine both orally via intravenous injection insure infection. Negative control experimental contact-exposed groups also included study. The liver, spleen, kidney, jejunum, ileum, cecum colon each from...

ABSTRACT Genomic and evolutionary analysis of epidemic porcine hepatitis E virus (HEV) in the Tibetan Plateau was performed. Faecal samples were collected from 216 pigs 78 Yorkshire (Large White) 53 tissue Linzhi City slaughterhouse. Total RNA extracted faeces fragments HEV open reading frame 2 (ORF2) detected by reverse transcription nested polymerase chain reaction (RT‐nPCR) cloned. Twenty‐three (23/347; 6.63%) positive for virus, including 6.94% (15/216) pig 6.11% (8/131) samples. No...

The gut virome is a reservoir of diverse symbiotic and pathogenic viruses coevolving with their hosts, yet limited research has explored the viromes highland-dwelling rare species. Using viral metagenomic analysis, communities Phrynocephalus lizards living in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau were investigated. Phage-encoded functional genes antibiotic resistance (ARGs) analyzed. different lizard species all predominated by bacteriophages, especially Caudovirales order. erythrurus around Namtso Lake...

Calf diarrhea is one of the common diseases involved in process calf feeding. In this study, a sample that tested positive for bovine coronavirus and astrovirus was subjected to high-throughput sequencing. The reassembly revealed complete genomes norovirus, astrovirus, kobuvirus, S gene coronavirus. Phylogenetic analysis showed ORF2 region had lowest similarity with other strains gathered Mamastrovirus unclassified genogroup, suggesting new serotype/genotype could appear. Compared most...

Toxoplasma gondii infection is widely prevalent in humans and animals, including pigs throughout the world. In this study, seroprevalence of T. Tibetan China was investigated for first time. A total 427 serum samples were collected from Nyingchi prefecture, Tibet, between April December 2010, assayed antibodies to using modified agglutination test (MAT). Ninety-seven (22.72%) found be positive with MAT titers 1:25 or higher. Slaughter had highest seroprevalence, compared fattening pigs,...

In the present investigation, seroprevalence of Toxoplasma gondii antibodies in 455 Tibetan sheep Tibet, China, was examined using an indirect hemagglutination test. Of these, 26 (5.7%) were seropositive at cut-off 1:64 serum dilution. The ranged from 2.2% to 8.9% among <1-yr-old, 1–3-yr-old, and >3-yr-old, but differences age groups not significant (P > 0.05). prevalence male (2.8%) lower than that female (6.6%), difference statistically results this survey indicated presence T. infection...

Clostridium perfringens (C. perfringens) is an opportunistic pathogen that cause necrotic enteritis, food poisoning and even death in animals. In this study, we explored the prevalence, antibiotic resistance genetic diversity of isolated from yak Qinghai-Tibet plateau, China. A total 744 fecal samples were collected assessed for toxin genes, antimicrobial susceptibility multilocus sequence typing (MLST). Results indicated 144 out (19.35%) tested to be positive C. , 75% ( n = 108, 108/144)...
