We report changes in pigment epithelial detachment composition indices (PEDCI), derived using an automated algorithm, six eyes with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) through 84 months. Changes serous, neovascular, and fibrous components (PEDCI-S, N, F, respectively) were compared. PEDCI-S reduced from 0.60 ± 0.21 (baseline) to 0.17 0.20 (84 months; P = 0.03). PEDCI-N showed a significant increase 0.30 0.15 0.71 ( 0.01), whereas PEDCI-F changed minimally (0.10 0.09 0.13...

Abstract Background: Robotic surgery may decrease surgeon stress compared to laparoscopic. To evaluate intraoperative stress, we measured salivary alpha-amylase and cortisol. We hypothesized robotic elicited lower increases in amylase cortisol than Study Design: Surgical faculty (n=7) performing laparoscopic operations participated. Demographics: age, years practice, time using vs robotic, comfort level enthusiasm for each. Operative data included operative time, WRVU (surgical “effort”),...

Abstract Postoperative staple line hemorrhage and leakage are major causes of postoperative morbidity after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG). Many reinforcement (SLR) techniques have been innovated in efforts to reduce such complications; these include oversewing/suturing (OS/S), omentopexy/gastropexy (OP/GP), gluing, buttressing. Therefore, surgeons often confused which SLR they should use. Recent high-quality evidence shows that Seamguard buttressing (SGB) OS/S associated with better...
