ABSTRACT We report a case of patient‐detected breast mass that revealed invasive carcinoma adjacent to pleomorphic adenoma, which was treated with wide local excision. This highlights the importance careful pathologic evaluation guide appropriate and systemic therapy avoid potentially harmful effects overtreatment.

Background: The factors associated with unplanned higher-level re-amputation (UHRA) and one-year mortality among patients chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) after lower extremity amputation are poorly understood. Methods: This was a single-center retrospective study of who underwent amputations for CLTI between 2014 2017. Unadjusted bivariate analyses adjusted odds ratios (AOR) from logistic regression models were used to assess associations pre-amputation risk outcomes (UHRA...

Background: This study evaluated the association of smoking with mitochondrial function in gastrocnemius muscle people peripheral artery disease (PAD). Methods: Participants were enrolled from Chicago, Illinois and consented to biopsy. Mitochondrial oxidative capacity was measured respirometry. Abundance voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC) (mitochondrial membrane abundance), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ coactivator (PGC-1α) biogenesis), electron transport chain complexes...

Introduction: In humans without peripheral artery disease (PAD) and animal models, exposure to cigarette smoke is associated with reduced mitochondrial respiratory function. Many people PAD cigarettes, but the association of smoking function in lower extremity skeletal muscle unknown. Methods: From Chicago, IL area, 31 (ankle brachial index (ABI) < 0.90) were enrolled consented gastrocnemius biopsy. Mitochondrial oxidative capacity was measured respirometry. Western blots performed...
