SARS-CoV-2 and its variants continue to infect hundreds of thousands every day despite the rollout effective vaccines. Therefore, it is essential understand levels protection that these vaccines provide in face emerging variants. Here, we report two demographically balanced cohorts BNT162b2 vaccine recipients COVID-19 patients, from which evaluate neutralizing antibody titers against as well B.1.1.7 (alpha) B.1.351 (beta) We show both are less neutralized by serum vaccinated individuals,...
IL-17 producing cells have been shown to be important in the early stages of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection animal models. However, there is very little data on role human studies TB. We recruited TB patients and their highly exposed contacts who were further categorised based results from an IFN-γ release assay (IGRA): 1) IGRA+ at recruitment (latently infected (LTBI)), 2) IGRA negative 6 months (non-converters (NC)) 3) positive (converters (C)). Whole blood was stimulated with...
Abstract Access to fast and reliable nucleic acid testing continues play a key role in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, especially context of increased vaccine break-through risks due new variants. We report rapid, low-cost (~ 2 USD), simple-to-use test kit for self-administered at-home without lab instrumentation. The entire sample-to-answer workflow takes < 60 min, including noninvasive sample collection, one-step RNA preparation, reverse-transcription loop-mediated isothermal...
Abstract We compared the serum neutralizing antibody titers before and after two doses of BNT162b2 COVID-19 vaccine in ten individuals who recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection prior to vaccination 20 with no history infection, against clinical isolates B.1.1.7, B.1.351, P.1, original virus. Vaccination boosted pre-existing levels anti-SARS-CoV-2 spike antibodies 10-fold previously infected individuals, but not significantly higher than those uninfected vaccinees. However, increased vaccinees...
Abstract We tested human sera from large, demographically balanced cohorts of BNT162b2 vaccine recipients (n=51) and COVID-19 patients (n=44) for neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 variants B.1.1.7 B.1.351. Although the effect is more pronounced in cohort, both B.1.351 show significantly reduced levels neutralization by vaccinated convalescent sera. Age negatively correlated with vaccinee, variant-specific RBD are proportional to activities.
Preventing human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection in newborns by vertical transmission remains an important unmet medical need resource-poor areas where antiretroviral therapy (ART) is not available and mothers infants cannot be treated prepartum or during the breastfeeding period. In present study, protective efficacy of potent HIV-neutralizing antibodies PGT121 VRC07-523, both produced plants, were assessed a multiple-SHIV (simian-human virus)-challenge macaque model. Newborn...
Zika virus (ZIKV) emerged as a global public health threat throughout the Americas since 2014. Phylogenetically, is composed of three main lineages, an African, Asian, and American lineage. The recent emergence spread ZIKV has raised questions regarding breadth potency human primary immune sera against antigenically diverse ZIKV. Although thought to compose single antigenic serotype, in-depth evaluation relatedness across genetic variants been limited relatively small series early...
The chicken major histocompatibility complex (MHC, also known as the BF-BL region of B locus) is notably small and simple with few genes, most which are involved in antigen processing presentation. There two classical class I only BF2 well systemically expressed ligand for cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs). other gene, BF1, believed to be primarily a natural killer (NK) cell ligand. Among standard MHC haplotypes examined detail, BF1 tenfold less than at RNA level due defects promoter or splice...
