This study investigated the effects of different doses 17-beta-estradiol (E(2)) in Rhamdia quelen. Groups males exposed to E(2) (0.1 mg kg(-)(1), 1 kg(-)(1) and 10 kg(-)(1)) were compared with non-exposed male female fish groups. Among considered biomarkers, no significant differences observed for micronuclei test, reduced glutathione concentration lipid peroxidation. All E(2)-treated individuals had decreased S-transferase activity. Increased catalase superoxide dismutase activities,...

Abstract The ADAM23 gene is frequently silenced in different types of tumors, and, breast silencing correlated with tumor progression, suggesting that it might be associated the acquisition a metastatic phenotype. exerts its function mainly through disintegrin domain, because metalloprotease domain inactive. Analysis binding to integrins has revealed specific interaction αvβ3 integrin mediated by domain. Altered expression been observed and this activated form shown promote metastasis...

ADAMs are transmembrane proteins implicated in several biological functions, including cytokine and growth factor shedding, fertilization, muscle nervous system development. Here, we show for the first time that ADAM23, which is predominantly expressed central system, co-localizes with cellular prion protein (PrP(C)) at plasma membrane of mouse hippocampal neurons neuroblastoma cells. Co-immunoprecipitation pull-down assay showed a physical interaction between ADAM23 both recombinant...

Prion diseases involve the conversion of endogenous cellular prion protein, PrP(C), into a misfolded infectious isoform, PrP(Sc). Several functions have been attributed to and its role has also investigated in olfactory system. PrP(C) is expressed both bulb (OB) epithelium (OE) nasal cavity an important route transmission caused by prions. Moreover, Prnp(-/-) mice showed impaired behavior tests. Given high expression OE putative olfaction, we screened mouse cDNA library identify novel...
