Abstract The traditional design fires commonly considered in structural fire engineering, like the standard and Eurocode parametric fires, were developed several decades ago based on experimental compartments smaller than 100 m 2 floor area. These experiments led to inherent assumption of flashover that temperatures burning conditions are uniform whole compartment, regardless its size. However, modern office buildings often have much larger open-plan areas (e.g. Shard London has a area 1600...

Firebrands are a harbinger of damage to infrastructure; their effects cause particularly important threat people living within the wildland-urban-interface. Short-range firebrands travel with wind little or no lofting, and spotfires. In this work, design novel firebrand generator prototype is discussed achieve uniform shower firebrands. The transport short-range studied verify existing Lagrangian particle model Fire Dynamics Simulator. Uniform, non-combusting cubiform cylindrical projected...

Australian building standard AS 3959 provides mandatory requirements for the construction of buildings in bushfire prone areas order to improve resilience radiant heat, flame contact, burning embers, and a combination these three attack forms. The are standardised based on level (BAL). BAL is empirical models which account radiation heat load structure. prediction structure challenging task due many influencing factors: weather conditions, moisture content, vegetation types fuel loads....

Firebrands (often called embers) increase the propagation rate of wildfires and often cause ignition destruction houses. Predicting motion firebrands new fires is therefore significant interest to fire authorities. Numerical models have potential accurately predict firebrand transport. The present study focuses on conducting a set benchmark experiments using novel generator, device that produces controlled repeatable sets firebrands, validating numerical model for transport against this...

Dysfunction of the lymphatic system following injury, disease, or cancer treatment can lead to lymphedema, a debilitating condition with no cure. Despite various physical therapy and surgical options available, most treatments are palliative fail address underlying vascular insufficiency driving lymphedema progression. Stem cell provides promising alternative in chronic diseases wide range therapeutic effects that reduce inflammation, fibrosis, oxidative stress, while promoting vessel (LV)...

The present case study work is carried out on a typical steel industry in selection of the optimum amount chemicals dosage used DAF unit to remove oil and grease. Neural models are developed between variables, i.e., chemical, pH, effluent. alum polyelectrolyte considered as independent whereas pH outlet stream accounted dependent variables. These input output data analyzed using ANN GMDH method, which reduces cost chemical/day-shift by 10.5% 21.85%, respectively.
