Congenital heart diseases (CHD) are the most frequently associated anomalies with anorectal malformations (ARM). Nevertheless, many specific aspects of CHD in ARM patients have yet to be studied. The aims this study were evaluate prevalence and distribution neonates-infants ARM, explore whether severity presence VACTERL association, had an impact on rate, severity, timing at first cardiac surgery.
Emergency Departments play a pivotal role in detecting cases of child abuse. Despite the efforts made past decades on need for screening method early detection abuse victims, unique instrument shared by international scientific community has not been made. These instruments should be able to help recognizing whether it is necessary further investigate child's condition. The aim study illustrate indicators use since 2010 Department Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital recognise victims and...
Abstract Background SARS-CoV-2 infection in children is often non severe and the majority of cases does not require long term hospitalization, nevertheless it burdened with social issues managing difficulties. To our knowledge there no literature on telephonic follow up pediatric patients positive PCR for rhino-pharyngeal swab after discharge. The aim study to describe experience a which can allow early safe discharge from hospital while keeping under close clinical monitoring. Materials...
Shone's complex (SC) is characterized by sequential obstructions of left ventricular (LV) inflow and outflow. It can be associated with poor long-term prognosis when compared to Simple-Aortic Coarctation (S-CoA). We aimed assess whether the degree disproportion 2D-speckle-tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) could improve accuracy prenatal prediction SC.75 consecutive fetuses were retrospectively enrolled from January 2010 June 2021. Fetuses divided into 4 groups (Group 1: SC; Group 2: S-CoA;...
ARCAPA echocardiographic diagnosis. A network of small multiple coronary vessels, a systo-diastolic jet flow into the pulmonary artery and retrograde inverted «blue» RCA are key signs. CT-scan confirms diagnosis .
Published data estimate the prevalence of vascular ring at approximately 7 per 10,000 live births. The association a double aortic arch with D-transposition great arteries has been rarely described in literature. In this study, we report prenatal diagnosis 28-year-old woman. A fetal echocardiography gestational age 24 weeks + 6 days showed and ventricular septal defect pulmonary stenosis. On first night after birth, baby experienced an increase lactate levels, rate oxygen saturation...
Anomalous origin of the right coronary artery from pulmonary (ARCAPA) is a very rare disease. Echocardiographic diagnosis can be challenging, especially in both asymptomatic children with no history cardiac disease or critically ill newborns setting intensive care unit. We report case ARCAPA neonate congenital airway malformation (CPAM), whose echocardiographic was particularly challenging due to critical status at presentation.
Kawasaki Disease (KD) is a systemic vasculitis that can lead to coronary artery aneurysms (CAA) in up 10% of treated cases, significantly increasing the risk thrombosis and acute myocardial infarction (AMI). While thrombolytic therapy commonly used adult syndromes, its application pediatric KD remains poorly studied. We report 9-month-old infant with giant CAA complicated by subocclusive thrombus left anterior descending (LAD). Initial intravenous thrombolysis (IVCT) alteplase failed prevent...

Coronary artery fistula (CAF) is a rare cause of heart murmur in newborns, with very heterogeneous clinical presentation and unpredictable natural history. We described the case large neonatal CAF an asymptomatic newborn. The patient did not show any symptoms failure during three-month follow-up. In this case, echocardiography was as accurate CT scan describing anatomy course CAF.
Abstract BackgroundIn early January 2020, a novel type of Coronavirus was identified in patient affected by pneumonia unknown origin. The virus will be named SARS-CoV-2 and the disease COVID-19 month later International Committee on Virus Taxonomy.Italy is one first countries world pandemic, with 1.2% all patients represented children. Although infection children often non severe majority cases does not require long term hospitalization, it burdened social issues managing difficulties. To our...
