Melanocytomas are rare, benign tumors that occur most commonly on or adjacent to the optic disc, but they may be found in any part of uveal tract. We report case a 68-year-old woman who presented with an asymptomatic melanocytic lesion iris her right eye. Although it was initially observed and followed serial imaging, surgically removed via excisional biopsy after demonstrating interval growth. Subsequent pathological examination revealed melanocytoma.
Purpose: Evaluating outcomes in patients receiving intravitreal antivascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitors for neovascular age-related macular degeneration whom experience a lapse treatment. Methods: A retrospective chart review evaluating 3,304 ≥18 years who experienced treatment lapses ≥3 months compared with control counterparts. Demographic information, thickness as measured by central subfield thickness, and visual acuity were collected at baseline, the first postlapse...
Gene therapy is an emerging field of medicine that can target and treat previously untreatable blinding or lethal diseases. Within the ophthalmology, gene has emerged to retinal degenerative disorders, but its exact role in infancy. While this exciting frontier rapidly expanding, these typically viral-based vectors trigger a host immune response. Thus, better understanding response therapies critical, harnessing immunity may improve treatment efficacy reduce risk vision loss from...
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the difference between widefield confocal scanning laser imaging (WSLO) and broad line fundus (WBLF) in their ability view peripheral retina routine clinical practice.A retrospective chart review identified patients within practice who were imaged with a WSLO image single montaged WBLF image. primary outcome number ultra-widefield quadrants captured utilizing UWF consensus definitions. Secondary outcomes included area each quadrant differences...
To describe a rare case of presumed bilateral acute idiopathic maculopathy (AIM) in pediatric patient. An 11-year-old male was evaluated for "fuzzy Dorito-shaped" spot the central vision his right eye (OD) that started 3 days before presenting to our clinic. On examination, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) counting fingers at 5 feet OD, and 20/25 left (OS). Fundus examination demonstrated macular lesion with pigmentary changes OD mild retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) OS. Optical coherence...
Purpose: The purpose was to establish the position of fovea centralis optic nerve via en-face, near-infrared spectral domain optical coherence tomography (NIR-OCT) in healthy patients. This may shed light on physiological variability and be used for studying subtle cases foveal ectopia macular pathology after retinal detachment. Methods: SD-OCT data 890 eyes were retrospectively analyzed. Exclusion criteria included axial myopia causing tilting disc, peripapillary atrophy >1/3 width images...
Steroid treatment for suspected giant cell arteritis brought no improvement in vision or headache severity.
