This study presents the complete utilization of spent coffee grounds to produce biodiesel, bio-oil, and biochar. Lipids extracted from were converted biodiesel. The neat biodiesel blended (B5 B20) fuel properties evaluated against ASTM EN standards. Although displayed high viscosity, moisture, sulfur, poor oxidative stability, B5 B20 met blend specifications. Slow pyrolysis defatted was performed generate bio-oil biochar as valuable co-products. effect feedstock defatting assessed through...
Abstract A process model for the recovery and purification of recombinant β‐glucuronidase (rGUS) from transgenic corn was developed, economics were estimated. The base‐case bioprocessing plant operates 7500 h/year processing 1.74 million (MM) kg containing 0.015% (db) rGUS. consists milling into flour, extraction protein by using 50 mM sodium phosphate buffer, rGUS ion exchange hydrophobic interaction chromatography. About 137 83% purity can be produced annually. production cost amounted to...
Biodiesel, defined as the monoalkyl esters of vegetable oils and animal fats, is an alternative to conventional petroleum-based diesel fuel. Biodiesel has been prepared from numerous common or fats well new less feedstocks. Major issues facing biodiesel include several technical aspects such cold flow oxidative stability availability sufficient quantities Solutions problems use additives modifying fatty ester composition biodiesel. While oleic acid possess good fuel properties, other acids...

Highlights The phospholipid and chlorophyll amounts were significantly different in the mechanical solvent extracted oils. Water degumming was sufficient removing mechanically oil. type of acid used did not influence amount removed same sodium hydroxide needed during neutralization since free fatty values after extraction. Abstract. Crude hemp (Cannabis sativa) seed oil is highly pigmented due to presence chlorophylls, carotenes, other antioxidants, which can potentially hinder downstream...
The tools of plant biotechnology that have been developed to improve agronomic traits are now being applied generate recombinant protein products for the food, feed, and pharmaceutical industry. This study addresses several processing recovery issues relevant utilizing transgenic corn as a production system. gus gene coding β-glucuronidase (rGUS) was stably integrated expressed over four generations. accumulation level rGUS reached 0.4% total extractable protein. Within kernel,...
Abstract Cuphea PSR23, a semi‐domesticated, high‐capric‐acid hybrid from viscosissima × lanceolata , is being developed as potential commercial alternative source of medium‐chain fatty acids. The present study evaluated the effects initial seed moisture and final contents cooked flaked on Cuphea’s pressing characteristics quality extracted oil. Seeds with 9 12% (MC) were at different residence times to produce seeds MC 3.0–5.5%. Cooked pressed using laboratory screw press. Eighty 84% oil 5.5...
Abstract In an effort to develop alternatives for harmful trans fats produced by partial hydrogenation of vegetable oils, oleogels high‐stearic soybean (A6 and MM106) oils were prepared with sunflower wax (SW) as the oleogelator. Oleogels did not have greater firmness when compared regular oil (SBO) at room temperature. However, 4 °C sharply increased due high content stearic acid. High‐stearic acid SBO had more polar compounds than SBO. Polar in inversely affected oleogels. Differential...
Abstract This study compared two methods for extracting the protein in pennycress ( Thlaspi arvense L.) press cake and determined composition functional properties of products. Proteins were extracted by using conventional alkali‐solubilization–acid‐precipitation (AP) method or saline‐based (SE) procedure (0.1 M NaCl at 50 °C). The extraction has a major influence on purity AP had lower yield (23 %) but much higher (90 % crude protein) with SE (45 yield, 67 protein). isolate high foam...
