As a consequence of molecular phylogenetic studies, the monotypic genus Primulina has recently been recircumscribed and expanded to include Chirita sect. Gibbosaccus , Chiritopsis Wentsaiboea . Based on analyses ITS sequences apparent morphological similarity, we make further transfers six species ( C. leprosa lijiangensis ningmingensis luochengensis rongshuiensis tiandengensis ) four Ch. danxiaensis hezhouensis jingxiensis longzhouensis that were neglected or published around slightly after...
In the course of investigating limestone plants in south-western Guangxi, China 2011, we discovered an unusual Aspidistra Ker Gawler (1822: without pagination) Jinxi Xian, leaf blade usually narrowly long to ribbon-shaped, its flower was dark purple, emitting unique flavor, stamens were inserted on bottom perigone tube, closely attached pistil base. The plant brought Guangxi Institute Botany, Guilin. following year it flowered regularly, making possible a detailed description based living...
A new species of Rhododendron (Ericaceae) in subgen. Hymenanthes, sect. Ponticum, subsect. Fortunea from Yuanbaoshan, northern Guangxi, China, namely R. yuanbaoshanense, is described and illustrated. The most similar to yuefengense orbiculare, but it differs by its broader ovate orbicular leaf blades with a cordate-auriculate base, cylindric petioles, longer inflorescence rachis. It distinguished orbiculare having 8–17-flowered inflorescences rachis, funnelform-campanulate campanulate...
A new species of Gesneriaceae, Petrocodoncurvitubus J.X.Wei, B.Pan & T.Ding, sp. nov. from Guangxi, China, is described and illustrated. The morphologically similar to P.lui P.tenuitubus, but can be easily distinguished by its elliptic oblong-ovate leaves, corollas with two purple longitudinal stripes, conical ovary.
Garcinia xanthochymus is renowned for sweet, water-rich pulp fruits. Despite some phytochemical analyses highlighting its economic and medicinal value, research on phylogeny scarce. To fill this void, we sequenced the first chloroplast genome of G. xanthochymus. The was 157,688 bp long with a typical quadripartite structure, consisting two IR (27,017 each), LSC (85,998 bp), SSC (17,656 bp). It contained 125 unique genes, including 80 protein-coding 37 tRNA eight rRNA genes. Forming distinct...
Aspidistra foetida, a new species of Asparagaceae from Guangxi, China, is described and illustrated. The similar to A. cruciformis, but differs by its leaf blade margin entire, flowers spread peculiar smell, perianth urceolate, lobes longer nearly equal the length tube, stigma smaller half width upper surface round densely purplish red finely papillose, shallowly 8 (6)-lobed at margin. currently known only Karst areas in eastern Guangxi. Detailed analytical colour plates line drawing, data...
Trichosporeae is the largest and most taxonomically difficult tribe of Gesneriaceae due to its diverse morphology. Previous studies have not clarified phylogenetic relationships within this on several DNA markers, including generic subtribes. Recently, plastid phylogenomics been successfully employed resolve at different taxonomic levels. In study, were used explore Trichosporeae. Eleven plastomes Hemiboea newly reported. Comparative analyses, phylogeny morphological character evolution...
Two new species of Gesneriaceae, Wentsaiboea tiandengensis Yan Liu & B. Pan and luochengensis W. Xu from Karst caves in Guangxi, China are described illustrated. resembles W . renifolia , but differs the leaf blade being cordate or broadly ovate, margin crenate repand, with conspicuous pinnate veins 3–5 on each side, corolla throat constricted, lobes ovate apex acute, staminodes 3, ovary ovoid. is similar to can be distinguished latter by coriaceous 2–3 inconspicuous elliptic sub‐rotund...
With more than 160 described species, Primulina is one of the most characteristic plant groups Sino-Vietnamese limestone flora. In our continous botanical inventory flora South China, we collected three new species not identifiable to known species. Molecular phylogenetic analyses based on nuclear ITS and chloroplast trnL-F trnH-psbA sequences strongly support placement in Primulina. addition morphological differences, DNA all these show substantial divergencies, sustaining recognition Based...
Abstract Adaptive radiation is usually triggered by great in situ or ex environmental changes. How an adaptive occurs on lands and how species richness relates to morphodisparity have been a major focus of evolutionary biology. Petrocodon , diversified the southeastern Qinghai–Tibet Plateau (QTP), represents ideal model address these questions. To elucidate dynamics we took integrative approach, including phylogenetic, dating, disparity versus diversity, pollination, gene expression...
A new triterpenoid saponin, 3-O-β-d-xylopyranosyl spathodic acid (1), was isolated from the EtOH extract of root Croton lachnocarpus Benth., together with four known compounds. These compounds were characterised on basis their spectral data and compatible values in literature. Compound 1 first glucoside genus Croton. The compound myriaboric (2) showed cytotoxic activity against human hepatocellular carcinoma SMMC-7721 cell line an IC50 value 42.2 μM.
A new species of Rubiaceae, Spiradiclis glabra , is described and illustrated from China. The most similar to S. fusca but differs by having 5–7 pairs adaxially unconspicuous secondary veins in the leaves, stipules 2–5 mm long, calyx lobes ovate‐triangular, corollas slightly purple–reddish, tubes 13–15 inside with a pubescent ring long hairs at throat, stamens near base long‐styled form. conservation status this was assessed as ‘Vulnerable’ (VU) according IUCN.
Spiradiclis pengshuiensis Bo Pan & R. J. Wang (Rubiaceae) is described as a new species from Chongqing in SW China. It morphologically compared with S. pauciflora L. Wu Q. Liu because of their similarities habit, pubescent surface, small leaf laminas and subglobose capsules. Its conservation status evaluated “VU” according to the IUCN categories criteria.
Oreocharis curvituba, a new species of Gesneriaceae from Guangxi, China, is described and illustrated. It resembles O. stenosiphon magnidens in the leaf characters, but it differs latter by its corolla with tube slightly curved, marked purple star ring glandular hairs at mouth.
Chirita leprosa Yan Liu & W. B. Xu, a new species of Gesneriaceae from Guangxi, China, is described and illustrated. The similar to C. wangiana Z. Y. Li, but differs by the leaf blade being elliptic broadly elliptic, bracts ovate, corolla pale yellow, filaments ca 9 mm long, geniculate near middle, staminodes 3, different flowering period (Oct–Nov).
Spiradiclis quanzhouensis , a new species of Rubiaceae from northeastern Guangxi, China is described and illustrated. It similar to S. umbelliformis but can be distinguished by its rosulate habit, subglabrous stems, leaf blades that are pubescent on both surfaces, lanceolate purple‐pubescent stipules undivided or sometimes bifid in apical 1/3, an inflorescence with 2–4 flowers, 4–5 mm long calyx lobes outside, salveriform corolla light semi‐inferior ovary, capsules persistent 5–6 mm, fruit 2...
