본 연구는 외상을 경험한 대학생이 선택한 정서조절양식과 외상 후 성장의 관계에서 정서적 자기노출이 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 온라인 설문을 실시한 전국 17개 시·도에 소재한 4년제 대학의 재학생 440명 중 외상경험을 보고한 358명을 대상으로 매개하는지를 확인하였다. 연구결과, 능동적 정서조절양식, 지지추구적 정서조절양식은 매개하여 성장에 간접적으로 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 회피분산적 미치지 않는 외상경험자가 이르는 과정에서 요인과 행동적 요인이 영향에 대한 이해를 제공하고 상담의 방향성을 제시하였다는데 의의가 있다. 마지막으로 연구결과의 제한점과 후속 연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.
