A new species of Gymnopus is described on the basis collections from subtropical cloud forest eastern Mexico. Macro- and micromorphological characters, in combination with ITS sequences obtained fruit body tissues, were used for its taxonomic circumscription. Basidiomata this found growing scattered fallen twigs Quercus also developing abundant long, black, wiry rhizomorphs. The authors discovered that these latter are as part nesting material by Myonectesoleaginous (Tyrannidae) inhabiting...

Two species of Laccaria discovered in relicts Fagus grandifolia var. mexicana forests eastern Mexico are described based on the macro- and micromorphological features, their identity supported by molecular analysis internal transcribed spacer (ITS) large subunit (LSU) ribosomal RNA gene. The phylogeny obtained here showed that one Mexican is nested an exclusive clade which combination with its striking morphological infers it represents a new species, while other placed as member...

Summary Edible Mushrooms boast a diverse array of biomolecules with exceptional nutritional and bioactive benefits for humans. This study conducted metabolomic analyses, aiming to identify potential metabolites in Tricholoma mesoamericanum from Pinus forests Veracruz, Mexico. These mushrooms exhibited high carbohydrate protein contents, coupled significant anti‐oxidant capacity. Metabolomic analysis identified 181 different compounds, terpenoids, fatty acids, glycerophospholipids,...

Two species of Lactarius from the subtropical montane cloud forest central Veracruz are described as new. Both placed in subgenus based on an accurate study macro- and micromorphological features supported by molecular phylogenetic analyses a single nuc rDNA ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 (ITS), concatenated ITS, D1, D2 domains 28S (28S), part second largest subunit RNA polymerase II (rpb2) (6–7 region) sequence datasets. In reconstruction presented, two appear nested clearly distinct, well clades that...

Two new species of yellow Cantharellus and a record tabernensis associated with tropical Quercus are presented, based on the taxonomic study fresh specimens in phylogenetic analysis transcription elongation factor 1-alpha ( tef -1α) large subunit ribosome (nLSU) sequences. One proposed here, corresponds to choice edible mushroom, which, our molecular phylogeny, resulted it being related group around C. lateritius sister Craterellus confluens type specimen. This latter is here formally...

Two new species of Lactifluus subgenus were discovered during a three-year monitoring the ectomycorrhizal fungi in tropical oak forest from central Veracruz, Mexico. Systematic sampling basidiomes allowed recording morphological variation fruit-bodies different growth stages along with their fructification season. Both distinguished, based on macro- and micromorphological features molecular data. A phylogenetic analysis concatenated nuc rDNA ITS, D1 D2 domains 28S (LSU) 6-7 region second...

Polyporoid fungi represent a vast source of bioactive compounds with potential pharmacological applications. The importance polyporoid in traditional Chinese medicine has led to an extensive use some species Ganoderma for promoting health and longevity because their consumption is associated several bioactivities. Nevertheless, bioactivity other members the Polyporaceae family also been reported. This work reports antiproliferative antibacterial activity crude extracts...

Phylloporus represents a group of fungi belonging to the lamellate Boletineae, which despite not having been exhaustively documented worldwide, most its species have recognized in tropical regions. The present research proposes description montanus and P. xalapensis as new science. Both were discovered Mexico through sampling focused on study genus montane cloud forest from east region country. based morpho-anatomic supported by phylogeny inferred internal transcribed spacer (ITS rDNA),...

A new sooty mould, Chaetocapnodium zapotae, was isolated from Manilkara zapota in central Veracruz, Mexico. An analysis of ITS+LSU nuclear rDNA concatenated sequences our isolate revealed taxonomic identity at the genus level located same clade as insulare and placitae . Morphological examination confirmed that species differs C. absence sexual morph setae on pycnidia. Additional characters distinguishing zapotae are its narrower pycnidial size range, wider ranges for hyphae conidia, dark brown color
