The objectives of this study were to describe the quality life (QOL), consequences treatment, complementary therapy use, and factors correlating with psychologic state in 58 survivors early-stage ovarian cancer since little is known about QOL survivors. Survivors interviewed using standardized measures assess physical, psychologic, social, sexual functioning; impact on socioeconomic status; use. reported good physical scores few unmet needs. However, menopausal symptoms negative sexuality...

Abstract Background Re-excision due to positive margins following breast-conserving surgery (BCS) negatively affects patient outcomes and healthcare costs. The inability visualize margin involvement is a significant challenge in BCS. 5-Aminolevulinic acid hydrochloride (5-ALA HCl), non-fluorescent oral prodrug, causes intracellular accumulation of fluorescent porphyrins cancer cells. This single-center Phase II randomized controlled trial evaluated the safety, feasibility, diagnostic...

Visualization of cancer during breast conserving surgery (BCS) remains challenging; the BCS reoperation rate is reported to be 20-70% patients. An urgent clinical need exists for real-time intraoperative visualization carcinomas BCS. We previously demonstrated ability a prototype imaging device identify carcinoma in excised surgical specimens following 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) administration. However, this was not designed image cavity remaining after lumpectomy specimen removed. A new...

Optical tissue phantoms serve as inanimate and stable reference materials used to calibrate, characterize, standardize, test biomedical imaging instruments. Although various types of solid have been described in the literature, current phantom models are limited that they do not a depth feature can be adjusted real-time, cannot adapted other applications, their fabrication laborious costly. Our goal was develop an optical could assess performance fluorescence devices customizable for...

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are that originate from neuroendocrine cells and can be found throughout the body but most commonly seen in gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, lungs. There is an increase diagnosis of NETs due to advances diagnostic modalities. Although mucosal easily visualized on upper GI endoscopic imaging, often missed their deep origin with normal overlying mucosa. We first present case a 46-year-old woman anemia epigastric discomfort who was have incidental submucosal mass...

Re-excision due to inability visualize positive margins following breast-conserving surgery is a significant clinical challenge. 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA), non-fluorescent prodrug, leads intracellular accumulation of fluorescent porphyrins in tumor cells. This single-centre Phase II randomized controlled trial evaluated the safety, feasibility and diagnostic performance new handheld fluorescence imaging device (PRODIGI) combined with 5-ALA hydrochloride (HCl) for intraoperative...

Therapeutic caudal block was applied as primary treatment to 81 consecutive patients. The 26 who were completely relieved of symptoms older, predominantly women, and usually had no previous surgery. Multiple blocks required in some, but there complications. Because considerable financial benefit accrued the patients whose pain relieved, therapeutic is suggested for back or leg pain, particularly older not previously operated on.
